Berto get's no respect\love presently, because most SO-CALLED fans of the sport don't hop onto the bandwagon until the fighter is on top. Then all of a sudden he's all that and some more.

Look at what happened with Pacman - most of these creeps didn't even know who Pac was until he fought DLH and now they're rabid so-called fans of his.

Its like when the Patriots seemed to have a dynasty going - everybody's a Pats fan all of a sudden ..... now that they're out of the loop - where are those so-called fans???? ......... on the next bandwagon.

Berto has been making noise for years - but his bandwagon still has room on it - so the so-called\fake boxing fans are on the sideline waiting until he beats a big name ...... then watch how many hop on the wagon and start trolling the forums.

Its a silly cycle that goes on and on ... and only a few really pick up on it. Its like "who's the next big thing" mentality with some of these guys.

I don't dislike Berto, I just like Shane better.
Which is why I'm rootin' for him, but Berto is no Margarito.

I agree... whats funny is all my favorite fighters dont have a huge bandwagon... Gamboa, Berto, Dirrel are all unproven.... Bradley is only proven to an extent as is williams... and roy is shot. I dont need fighters to be #1 to be a fan.

You're a real fan of the sport.

There is a difference between someone who follows the sport and those who follow a fighter.

If you follow the sport, then you recognize the fighter's with serious potential when you first see them and start following their fights. That's a real fan!!!!!

The guys that follow the fighter ONLY after they made their mark, aren't real fans of the sport ... they're only there as long as their guy is on top.

If their guy ain't winning .... he ain't their guy ...... know what I mean lol!!!!!

I went to a live show in Tacoma on saturday and was PUMPED UP to see a guy who was 0-0 fight another guy that was 0-0. That should tell you how much of a fan I am!

Also, I was screaming in one fight where one guy was 7-5 and the other guy was 11-10. I just love boxing, winning isn't everything.

Yeah man definitely... I am still making adjustments and getting used to Roy being out of the sport... even if he fights again.. he will not fight past 2010.. But I have other fighters I am very excited about. Not sure any fighter will ever get me as excited as Roy used too, as everyone has their ultimate favorite fighter.. but there is always new blood coming to the sport, and great matchups being made all the time.

Hell yeah, we have our own local boxing show every year the day before Thanksgiving, and I usually know a few of them... Spadafora fights in Erie a lot because he lives here and in Pittsburgh... always gets me going! Spaddy came up for our MMA fight cards too..

****.... Thats no joke. I hope Berto's family are alright.

I have respect for Berto, I hope he puts up a good fight. He has a good chance in this fight.

In my opinion though, Berto's chin concerns me and i think Mosley can take advantage.

I want Mosley to win also.

This post is so true.....I hate band wagoners. I made a thread saying I think Berto will never amount to anything before. Yet I think he can beat Mosley and Im rooting for him especially after the tragedy in Haiti.

And to the Pacman thing...Bro I been here since Late 04- early 05....and Pac threads and fans were scarce. Now that hes on top theres a **** load. These guys werent even around then. Most of them couldnt tell you about Doniare or know who Pancho Villa was.

People say the same thing about Williams now. With me I been a fan of his since I first seen the kid 2 years ago fight Walter Mythiasse on HBO...since then I been calling him the truth. Reed gets mad when I say this..lol...But I swear I was his FIRST fan on this site before he got his most feared tag. Now look............

I love the sport and love alot of fighters..the two guys who have me most excited is Rigondeaux and Hasegawa.
