Baseball still doesn't. Neither does the NBA nor the NFL (ESPECIALLY the NFL!). Basically, American sports as a whole. Then again, the US don't care much about anything.

Who pays for the current testing system in place now?

I'd lean towards the commission but I wouldn't be surprised if it was the promoter. Would have to double check.

In the US there has been no demand for testing at all. If there's no talk about cheating, there's no demand and nobody has any interest in talking possibly (and likely) because almost everybody is juicing. Sooner or later the amount of cheating will come to the paying publics attention and they will feel cheated and those few fighters that doesn't cheat might start suing if they have lost to a cheater.

I always wondered why De La Hoya never sued or publicly bashed Mosley after it became known that he was on EPO when they fought. I find it most odd as all fighters worry a lot about their legacy. Maybe Oscar didn't want the scandal to be bigger given his involvement in GBP or maybe he was on PED's himself?

Anyways compared to Europe american sports has ways to go.

Excellent post. And that's not to say Europeans aren't using (Lord knows, the Klitschko's are as suspect as any other) but the U.S. is way, way behind. And the media doesn't care. Given the events of the past few weeks, it seems many fans don't care either. Then you wonder why athletes like FloJo and others are dropping dead (RIP).

Good post. You could be right, maybe Oscar hasn't made a fuss was because of his friendship with Shane and the fact that they are now business partners.
I recently found out that Arthur Abraham has olympic style drug testing in all of his contracts.

I remember the rumors about her even when she was competing, a lot of my favorite wwf wrestlers have died from heart attacks over the years as well.

The boxer pays for all of his medicals. Sometimes a manager may pay but they will get it back out of the boxer's purse so the boxer ultimately pays no matter what.

So as far as testing goes the only person that would be against it from a financial frame of mind would be the boxer.

off subject - Dr. Goodman has something freaky sexy about her. I don't know if it is because she is a Doc, redhead, etc.... I don't know but I do know I would hit it. I know I was surprised as well when I came to this realization. What can I say?

Of course the euros cheat as well. There's to much money to earn given the risk of getting caught. Still I'd estimate that the ratio of cheaters is somewhat lower than in the US given the amount of scrutiny pro athletes are under over here. There has been so many scandals and all the big stars that has been caught has suffered a terrible fall from grace. I'm sure every boxer or athlete has that in the back of his mind here in continental Europe.

Compared to that the 'punishment' american athletes receive is laughable.
