They might be in the minority but their voices are being heard loudly. Critics of Manny Pacquiao are out for his blood both literally and physically. It’s well documented that the deal breaker for Pacquiao vs Mayweather was the drug testing. Let’s examine what some of Pacquiao’s critics are saying as they blame him for dropping the ball with these negotiations.

Of course the biggest critics of Pacquiao were the Mayweathers and Golden Boy Promotions. They were the ones who insisted on this drug testing system despite the fact that the Nevada State Athletic Commission has their own policies and tests which have been used by fighters for decades. No fighter should be able to demand another fighter to test for this or that. The commission is in place to protect all fighters. This was nothing more than a contractual ploy that blew up in their face. Let’s also not forget that Mayweather Jr flat out blames Pacquiao for everything.

Next, we have Teddy Atlas making statements that an “unnamed source” claims that the Pacquiao camp sent an email to Golden Boy asking about keeping positive tests a secret. This is just terrible journalism and a violation of common decency. You can’t make critical accusations that defame an individual without solid proof.
Lastly, we have reporters/journalists chiming in with their opinions that Pacquiao is to blame. For example, an article in the New York Daily news says just because Pacquiao has never tested positive doesn’t mean he’s clean. The article also insinuates that because Pacquiao waffled and backed out there is cause for concern.

Now, everyone is entitled to an opinion but you should be held accountable for that opinion. We can easily dismiss Mayweather’s comments as more nonsense from a guy all about himself. Teddy Atlas’ comments should bring down some serious consequences. This guy has been around boxing long enough to know that his reporting/comments is unprofessional and discriminating.

And lastly, reporters who choose to blame Pacquiao are free to do so but they should realize blaming him for not wanting to agree to a contractual stipulation doesn’t mean he is guilty. And, to make a statement that he could be dirty because others have cheated is a comment solely based on ignorance.

We’re all disappointed that this awesome fight didn’t happen but the blame is clearly on Mayweather’s camp and their failed tactics.
