    it depends on other intangibles..

who does have the height, reach, weight adavantage?
does the brawler have skills, chin, heart, stamina?
does the slick boxer have power, durability, stamina?
who does have advantage in terms of youth, experience,
    cornerman, location?

by, basic question, the answer should be the slick boxer..
but there are so many factors in a match that can't be
ignored, and will play a lot in order to see who will win...

assuming all are equal, the only difference is style..
the winner will be the one who wants it more!

Generally agressive fighter wins, but in the upper tiers of boxing its normally the slick fighter.

Like any fighting sport the aggressive/power guys normally dominate but the champs are normally slicker, faster and smarter.

It really depends on the aptitude of the fighter. Is the slicker fighter a master boxer now many around in the last few years but a few with mixed results. You guys tell me what you think.

          Hopkins vs Pavlik
          Marquez vs Pac Man
          Mayweather vs Hatton
          Mayaorga vs Forest
          Ali vs Foreman
          Lewis vs Tyson
          Jones vs Toney
          Whitaker vs Chavez
          Taylor vs Chavez
Just a few and not all where clear brawlers vs Slick fighters but the outcome usually is the slick fighter if he is really serious about his craft and follows the game plan that his corner instills. Also normally conditioning plays a major role in a slick fighter winning the fight. Cotto wasn't to slick but if he had just a little better conditioning or stall tactics( the ability to clinch on the inside) He would've easily outlasted Margarito. Mosley showed how to employ that tactic and win. If a slick fighter and a brawler fought one hundred times I would pick the slick boxer everytime if everything was equal.

There were a few great boxers who could turn off their defensive/ offensive styles at will, those who were talented in both disciplines, adapting to new styles. aiming for the weaknesses of their opponents, they were seen as high risk and avoided by others.

Who ever is more skilled wins, obviously. A good fighter has a few things in his favor, ring size, glove size, etc. A great fighter has no advantages and still comes out victorious.

Depends whether they actually engage. Look at Froch-Dirrell...

Personally I can appreciate all styles. It's great to watch an explosive brawler and also a slickster. I guess the best is a combination of both.
