    Fight Night - Game Accuracy?

Has anyone played these games before?
    -Fight Night 2004
    -Fight Night Round 2
Just thought it would b interesting to see what people thought of them. I have got the first one but havent played many other boxing games so i cant really compare.

ps. what do people think of the ratings of the boxers on this game if u have it. I think they are quite true part from the fact rocky marciano has one of the weakest strengths on the game despite going unbeaten (i think)

I have the first one and I think that it is fairly accurate. The ratings seem pretty good, although RJJ might be a bit high for this stage of his career. Definitely the best boxing game that I have ever played.

I just bought round 2 and i think its really good and accurate, not 100% though because it is a video game, but overall a good game. If your a boxing fan then you should give in a shot.

Fight Night Round 2 is overall better..despite the fact that you can abuse the Haymaker punch..which is thrown way too many times..and sometimes is too effective.

Just finished my career on FNR2 and I must say it's an absolute brilliant game. With the new 1 punch KO situation that can happen, means that you don't have to beat the hell out of your oponent so that his bar reaches zero for a knockdown, alos means you have to be on guard. Ali's stats in speed and agility seemed a bit low and he is the 2nd heaviest puncher on the game which didn't make sence, but it didn't really matter. Both games are great and I recomend them to any boxing fan.

Yea it is. When I play with my friend thats all he does is use the haymaker. I only use it when i get someone into the knockdown/knockout mode, because its automaticaly a knock down.

i own both, but i'm playing the first 2004 one mostly. I like the punch animations much more, as well as the shorter parry penalty. The computer AI is much more realistic because it doesn't rely on the haymaker. It will pressure you pretty well (at least, in the first round) if it's power style , box effectively as a balanced style. I hate fighting against a speed style comp cause all they do is run, but it's awesome fun playing as one. The longer I play the game the more details i notice, such as the range and head movement on each punch. It's very cool because the game lets you pattern styles very well. I try to fight the way the real fighters do, and somehow the game makes this work (for example, as a southpaw, the straight left hand works great and is blocked much less than the straight right of an orthodox). The biggest complaints that bug me about 2004 is the weakness on the straight right, the ineffectiveness of body punches, and the huge volume of punches allowed to be thrown. I love the game especially when having wars with a friend. The total analog control and the lack of popularity of boxing makes this a hard game to find competition though. That's why, as realheavyhands stated, the user usually has to impose self handicaps, like putting morales up against lewis (8th round ko for me).

The ratings are ok but the styles suck. In Rd 2 Winky Wright throws a bunch of haymakers. I have never seen Winky Wright load up once in real life. Some guys with easy stlyes like Jermaine Taylor's are ok. Overall the game is lousy at capturing styles. Victorious Boxers has a bunch of anime boxers who fight more like real boxers then Fight Nights real boxers. I cant get into Fight Night unless I'm playing 2 players. 2 players online or off and its a heck of a game. The graphics are better then any other EA sports game. To me its the best looking PS 2 game around and only a few Xbox games like Chronicles of Rid**** look better.
