i've said something similar before in the past, and no he didn't have any money, he was to the hilt in debt because of the castillo scale fiasco and gary shaw, for starters. and very sad to say, Chico partied pretty hard, he actually did everything he participated in hard, i've met him snowboarding up in lee canyon, and i found out that he hung out at a bar my friend works at back in the day, near where he got killed.people often think suicide is only done by self inflicted gunshot, drinking poisonous substances, hanging, etc. but no one looks at vehicle "accidents" as suicide. There have been many suicides resulting in vehicular accidents but it always comes out looking like an accident. Why would Diego Corralles be drinking and get on a motorcycle when he had so much to live for at only 28? He had the money, and the future to fight a lot of the big names, so why commit suicide if it was suicide? Was he physically damaged and got the result that he can no longer fight so he simply lost it and committed suicide by making it appear "accidental"? I think that was the case but the people around him (managers, trainers, etc.) don't want to make it public that he is a damaged fighter and should no longer fight. Boxing insiders simply want to hush about it as to not give boxing another blow and end up in Congress to change more rules than they alreadry had! Billy Collins, Jr., in my opinion committed suicide by car "accident". He was suicidal and depressed after the Resto fight where he lost his vision and can't fight anymore after that fight. Just a thought that I think is worth looking into, but who's to know what a person is going through inside, right?
Chico was one of the nicest person i've ever met, and humble beyond i could ever imagine, but he had a dark side and like to go hard. i think with the problems at home with the wife at the time, his career, the stresses of having a new born, his manager shanghaiing his money, he probably was out that night, not giving a **** and was obviously riding his bike in a manner that will get you dead. who knows man, it's sad a hell, chico was heading into a rough patch, but i think he could've figured something out, only he knows what happened really and why he was biking like that.
i think shaw should be responsible for chico's stresses and castillo for that matter, just for the fact that he ruined that last fight and that really broke chico, fighting clottey was more like a temporary help. shaw should've stepped up and aided chico in his financial manners more. i remember chico was about to lose his house and shaw wasn't answering his calls, made chico pay up front for his training needs out of his own cash and when the fight was cancelled he wasn't reimbursed immediately. shaw acts like he's the father of his fighters and then turns around and pulls some shady moves, it made me not like shaw completely after how he handled chico.
yeah, i heard before at my friends bar how he would hang out and throw darts all night long. which wasn't far from where he died. totally sucks, i watch his fights quite often.Diego was drinking and as a man who has owned motorcycles his whole life you dont drink and drive or you will die its not a car people.and by the way i was with my friend at a redlight when they annouced the news on the local radio...i live in vegas...i cried he was a good kid and one hell of a warriorComment
