to be honest as much of a fan i am of roy i think he should hang up the gloves. he's got too much to lose. and now with his 3 boys growing up and newly married...it's come to a point where...he's made boxing history, he's got his health, his legacy, his family...why jeapordize that?

btw- anyone catch the way roy looked at the toney-ruiz fight? he looked like he was in shape. he looked around 170-ish.

Roy doesn't seem like the kind of guy who will let himself go, after he's done fighting.
      He's a real athlete.....& a clean living guy.

no,no,no...that is not what i meant. usually his shoulders are broader and walks comfortably around 180ish...at that fight he looked very much like a super middleweight

Let's just say this, Roy isn't letting himself go like Oscar is, and Oscar is the one saying he's coming back...at 147 no less!!! What is he, like 170 right now?

Roy strikes me as the kind of guy who is staying in shape and after watching to see what Johnson-Tarver II looks like, THEN deciding if he can take the winner. If he feels he can, boom, rematch. If not, he'll stay coy for a while and eventually retire so as not to be perceived as ducking the winner of that match...

            hmm

I'm not so sure Roy should come back. In my opinion, after reading many articles on the issue of muscle loss, he has suffered permanent damage to his body. I'm not so sure he should fight at all again and if he does, that he should fight at 175 after gaining so much muscle to get to 199.

Then again, he did look rather fit at the last HBO telecast...however, roy usually does look fairly fit.

In any case, pride can hurt you. Pride and ego do not equate to a real joy of boxing and if he does not love it anymore, he will not have the success he has enjoyed. Hell, he may not have it anyway.

But one can dream, right? I know I will. If he comes back I'm behind him 100%. Maybe the winner of Tarver-Johnson II will have taken enough of a beating that Roy will be fresh enough to beat them and be the champ one last time.

Everyone should also consider the possibility that Roy is just making these comeback statements to steal some of the Tarver-Johnson thunder with their press conference looming today or tomorrow.

I think Jones is just feeling more determined to come back with their rematch finally being official...

I don't think he'll come back. Once he has to train and work hard he'll back off. Right now he misses boxing a little and his pride is hurt.

                  "NEWS FLASH
                  Jones: Johnson-Tarver a box-off!
Former four-division world champion Roy Jones, Jr. has called the June 18 light heavyweight title rematch between Glen Johnson and Antonio Tarver a box-off to determine who will be his most worthy opponent. "If I decide to return to fight again - to right the wrongs - this box-off may decide who my first opponent will be," says Jones. "So I will be watching on June 18." Jones (49-3, 38 KOs) from Pensacola, FL is a former middleweight, super middleweight, light heavyweight and heavyweight world champion. His last two fights were knockout losses to Tarver (May 15, 2004) and Johnson (September 25, 2004) and he has since been on hiatus from the ring.

i always knew he would come back.

he wants to pull off a sugar ray leonard so he could go down as one of the greatest.
