Barracuda and Manny Pac has been knocked out twice, is he not a legit champ at Welter. Baldomir was on a 5 year win streak including a victory over Clottey the man that Pac is fighting on March 13th.

ok can we honestly stop right now with this Mayweather fought top welterweights nonsense please?

people like the TS use links to sites and places like boxrec to justify their views but anyone with a boxing pulse knew that Baldomir was nothing more than a feel good Cinderella story whose clock struck midnight. Judah is what he is, a talented fighter good enough to be a champ but not focused enough to support the championship level talent he possesed. Hatton being ranked as a top ten welterweight after one shaky fight at welterweight is comical and largely based off of his work at 140 NOT the one questionable decision he got with Collazo.

are these guys top Welters depends on what you consider a top fighter. If you mean that out of the thousands of fighters that fight at that weight class then yes you can have it fit into your definition but against a measure of greatness, which Floyd rightfully so SHOULD be measured at, then no these guys all pale in comparison especially when the other choices Mayweather could have fought all outtrump the three opponents on that list Mayweather chose to fight.

      so there goes your theory

So what ranking system do you want to use as your barometer to measure who the top guys are?

He fought what he could at Welter.

How is it his fault or within his control that the Welterweight division's talent got that much better in a small time frame?

If he fights one of these prospects, he's probably faulted for ducking somebody else. Its like an infinite loop of possibilities.

Floyd agreed to fight the Undisputed Champion Judah in 2006. Not his fault that Judah lost to Baldomir. He beat them both! Revionist history says that Baldomir was terrible but back them people thought Floyd was afraid to fight him because he was a big welter. Just check the Baldomir Gatti fight and listen to Merchant
Gatti was also rated #6. Floyd beat 4 of the top 6 WWs?

Have you seen that fight? Baldo got lucky he got the bogus DQ win, he was behind on all scorecards.

                      those rankings were in mid-2006.

ricky left 147 after 1 fight and didn't come back to 147 until he fought floyd a year and a half later.

yeah baldomir was the lineal champion at 147. so was cory spinks and zab judah and ricardo mayorga. those guys were passing the lineal title at 147 around.

judah , baldomir and hatton were good wins at 147.

2 of those guys were top ranked at 147 when floyd fought them at 2006.

                      that was 2006 though.

                      it's 2010 now.

you don't fight a couple top 10 guys 1 year and that means you don't have to fight top 10 guys anymore.
