Chambers vs. Klitschko will not be televised by HBO

HBO needs to man up and get any fight they can get. I got HBO for the boxing. Each year seems to have fewer and fewer fights. They'll show both Diaz Malignaggi fights but not Wlad v. Chambers? Nonsense.
Any fight worth watching on HBO is PPV, it's getting a little silly to even pay for the channel anymore.Comment

On one hand I think you're right. I don't think HBO has much confidence in Eddie. I think Wlad will beat him quite easily too. But does this have to do with Chambers or Wlad? I mean, HBO just aired Vitali-Johnson. Johnson is not as live of a contender as Chambers and Eddie has previous HBO exposure. Plus Chambers is a more entertaining fighter than Johnson with wins over good fighters. So why would HBO televise a defensive American HW over a fast entertaining American HW? They wouldn't.According to Dan Rafael's notebook on the ESPN website, a decision has already been made by HBO to not televise Eddie Chambers vs. Wladimir Klitschko on March 20 in Germany.
Seems like they don't have much faith in Eddie. I thought he proved himself to be a capable fighter in his entertaining fight with Dimitrenko.
But they would televise Vitali over Wlad because Vitali fights in a more aggressive and entertaining style.
Personally, I think they should air all of Wlad and Vitali's fights. If this was just a matter of a date issue, fine. If it has to do with the fight itself, I think it has more to do with Wlad then Chambers. It shouldn't, but it would.Comment

This should not be a concern because the fight will still generate money without the backing of HBO. Most likely ESPN or VS will pick it up. **** HBO and their monopoly over the sport.Last edited by Boxingwizard; 01-11-2010, 10:40 AM.Comment
