Nevada Also Bans Lidocaine For Boxers

Nevada also bans lidocaine use by boxers.

"There would’ve actually been precedence for making such a request. It was revealed prior to his failed middleweight title bid against Bernard Hopkins in 2004 that de la Hoya took Lidocaine, a pain killer deemed illegal by Nevada State Athletic Commission standards, to speed up the healing process for a cut suffered on his hand. Hopkins appeared visibly upset when informed of the news prior to their fight, but didn’t seem too bothered by it after stopping him in the ninth round, or joining up with Golden Boy Promotions a few weeks later."

            jersey also bans xylocaine/lidocaine.

I haven't responded to these types of threads before, but...

There is a world of difference between using a painkiller and using a PED. As a boxer, you use a local anaesthetic to make you able to fight, because your hands are in severe pain from your trade. Anyone who can't tell the difference between this and using steroids is a moron.

This, and I have yet to see any evidence that Floyd has used an illegal substance, that being, used it in a state where it was deemed illegal. And I don't agree with outlawing them either.

floyd has been documented to use lidocaine. that is a statement of fact.

if he is using the painkiller to numb his hands to allow him to throw punches more efficiently by not feeling pain, that is cheating.

why is lidocaine currently outlawed in most us states?

Systemic exposure to excessive quan****** of lidocaine mainly result in central nervous system (CNS) and cardiovascular effects – CNS effects usually occur at lower blood plasma concentrations and additional cardiovascular effects present at higher concentrations, though cardiovascular collapse may also occur with low concentrations. CNS effects may include CNS excitation (nervousness, tingling around the mouth (also known as circumoral paraesthesia), tinnitus, tremor, dizziness, blurred vision, seizures) followed by depression, and with increasingly heavier exposure: drowsiness, loss of consciousness, respiratory depression and apnoea). Cardiovascular effects include hypotension, bradycardia, arrhythmias, and/or cardiac arrest – some of which may be due to hypoxemia secondary to respiratory depression.

Adverse drug reactions (ADRs) associated with the use of intravenous lidocaine are similar to toxic effects from systemic exposure above. These are dose-related and more frequent at high infusion rates (≥3 mg/minute). Common ADRs include: headache, dizziness, drowsiness, confusion, visual disturbances, tinnitus, tremor, and/or paraesthesia. Infrequent ADRs associated with the use of lidocaine include: hypotension, bradycardia, arrhythmias, cardiac arrest, muscle twitching, seizures, coma, and/or respiratory depression.

Exactly, and if he were using Xylocaine in his fights since 2002 as this whole rumor suggests then he would have tested positive for it in the states outside Nevada.

It's not like you can cycle those drugs out of your system before the post fight drug test considering you have to inject them right before the fight.

Besides, a lot of fighters are known to do this. It's no different than a quarterback getting a cortisone shot in his shoulder on gameday. Ali used to do it, and even Freddy Roach did it. This is not as taboo as you think.

Trying to flip the script only works if you have some solid information. Manny's fans are really stretching here.
