      • I wasn't the best fighter ever from my country, but was its first world champion. If my name was taken as a literal description, you'd think I'd have an extra one (or actually two) of these.

        Who am I?

          Not Bob Arum.

It's especially tough if you don't know the guy because Google won't help you much with the way I phrased it. Gotta use the ol' noggin for this one. I wanna test your knowledge not research skills

Here it is again with the clues in bold:

"Whether you've heard me or not. I've been involved in boxing's biggest fights for the past 40 years, but please don't ask me for any secret recipes. You have me confused with another gentleman."

Maybe I should change my name to The Riddler

You got it. Elton John wrote a song named "Daniel," and Ponce De Leon tried to find the fountain of youth.

I imagine the "secret recipes" is a very telling clue.. can't figure it out though.

                Don King?

If not, then it's most likely a boxing announcer, in which case I'll guess Larry Merchant.

You're both right in those senses. It's not Larry Merchant though (or Don King).

Sixto Escobar? That's the only first country world champion I could think of that relates to numbers.
