You're funnyDoes anyone else find it disturbing the lengths HBO goes to to make Manny marketable to the general public?
We've all seen how they try to play up the wholesome, stand up guy image they've manufactured for him. From doing segments during 24/7 about how he's a family man while he's cheating on Jinkee literally that same day, to pointing to the corner after he beat Hatton to remind him to kneel and pray so they can play up the religion angle. They've gone to disgusting lengths to try to make him a fan favorite and a bigger draw.
I don't know about you guys, but i'd have a lot more respect for him and HBO as a company if they just let him be himself. After the public gets a sense of who he really is (which seems to be happening more and more each day) he might not have as many fans, but at least he's being real with people and he can look in the mirror with a little more dignity.
Also, it will be interesting to see how HBO tries to save face and pick up whatever's left of his credibility after this whole drug test dilemma. It will be a tall order, but if any fans are gullable and naiive enough to believe whatever spin they put on it, it's Manny's fans.
...you're just the same mentality as this poster on my sig

That's true, but in Manny's case they've taken it to a whole another level. How many times have you seen a producer blatantly direct how a fighter celebrates after a fight? When they reminded Manny to bow down in the corner and pray after he KO'd Hatton like they probably rehearsed before the fight i actually felt sorry for him.
I realize Manny is a simple man who let's other people make most of his decisions for him, but he should have a little more pride. This is boxing not the WWE.Comment
