Hell no. I don't know much about old school boxers, but from what the older posters talk about back in the days the fighters were 10x more dirtier than the one's from now.

Go watch some Fritzie Zivic fights. He makes Galota look like a boyscout...

              lol no.

Find the Mike Casey archive on Cyber Boxing Zone and read his article on Fritzie Zivic. Not only was he one of the dirtiest ever but he was genuinly & incredibly proud about his ability to do that ****.

Lots of old time fighters like that make Golota look like a choir boy. Gouging eyes on purpose, clawing at cuts to open them up further, **** you wouldn't even think to do. Kinda have to admire their creativity actually.

You can also add Mysterious Billy Smith as one of the dirtiest fighters of all time. He lost over 10 fights due to DQs.

Sandy Saddler was a dirty fighter

From what I have read and by all accounts Battling Nelson and Harry Greb were dirty fighter. Even more so than Galota

I would even say Eusebio Pedroza was more dirty than Galota

I think Galota is in the likes with Freddie Norwood and the late Agapito Sanchez as a dirty fighter.

Joel Casamayor and Bernard Hopkins are dirty as well but to a lesser extent...

Good post. You can add Holyfield and Duran to that list as well. Golota's foul rep comes mostly from three fights. Golota wasn't an intelligent dirty fighter like Hopkins. He fouled out of desperation when he felt stressed in the ring.
