Jirov has sustained substantial beatings in his fights, yet his crowd pleasing style makes him equally a "fan favorite". Funny thing is....I have yet to hear about Jirov's medical conditions, (although not saying he has one). People are essentially egging him on to continue fighting. The same can not be said for Mesi..who is being "sheltered" to some extend by the boxing critics and media.

you see where I am getting at? Why is Mesi considered more special than Jirov, in that his future in the fight game is rarely discussed. People have mentioned that "He should move back to cruiserweight"....but people are saying Mesi should "quit fighting in general".

Sounds like favoritism to me, and I could really care less what they do as long as they agree to it.
It's not favoritisim with me cause I not a fan of either. I'd say it's just cause of the big deal made of the medical condition, etc...and I havent heard anything about Jirov having any problem like that. Other than that I really dont know

Ok......Joe Mesi just cleared that up.
He agrees.......testing should be mandatory for ALL fighters... a common injury. My Point Exactly. I was not saying "you". I was talking about boxing fans and media in general.

His exact words on ESPN were....."3 doctors have cleared me to fight". This whole "brain injury" thing...is highly overrated and I think Jirov has sustained worse damage to his.

Yeah, I saw that too last night. I wonder if that many have cleared him what the hold up is Supposedly there are several neuroligists that say he shouldnt fight, and then theres some that say he can. They need to pick one so he can go on with his career or something!

I don't know, to me if your having any bleeding from you brain you should be barred from boxing.

Mesi usually fades at the end of every big fight. He did against Jirov and Barett. He needs to land a gig as an analyst. Brain....Bleeding... Negative. Oh and tell him to take Holyfield with him too. The guy is not only killing himself but he is killing his legacy in the process.

So, he IS still having that problem? I cant keep up with different doc's telling him different things. I agree completely..if he's still bleeding there, then no way he should take any blows to the head. Suicide

I am kind of confused myself, but since he had bleeding even if his brain isn't bleeding now its risky to continue in a sport like boxing.

Well yeah, youve got a point there. If it's something that can be triggered with just a good blow to the head, then it makes no sense to even risk it. I cant imagine how difficult it would be to walk away from something that you love that much..especially with the heavy wt. division in the state its in right now..but it cant be worth dying for. He's a decent looking, presentable guy and well spoken enough to take up commentating, announcing or many other facets of the game...and they dont kill necessairly. Must be one hell of a deal for him regardless
