Stieglitz vs Acosta: It will be Argentinian Ruben Acosta that challenge WBO supermiddle champ Robert Stieglitz on Saturday (Jan 9) in Magdeburg, Germany. Acosta comes in as a very late replacement for Edison Miranda but reported at today´s press conference he had been in full training for another fight and is in good shape. Still, Acosta, appears to be a step down in calibre as compared with Miranda. Ruben lost a wide decision to Karoly Balzsay on his only previous visit to Germany. [Click Here To Read More]

Ur playing right?.. Stieglitz got his ass handed to him and Ko;d easily by Librado Andrade... Miranda had a very good chance. They should make a title eliminator Miranda/Andrade!

Wow, so Stieglitz winds up with the easy hometown defense after all. Too bad about Miranda, because that would have been a legit fight. This is a bull****, easy stay-busy defense against a guy who doesn't belong in a title fight

I understand that they didn't have long to get an opponent. My problem isn't that they are fighting, it's that it is called a "title defense" when Acosta has no business being in a title fight. He has a padded record and has been beaten one-sidedly every time he steps up. Why isn't this a 10-round non-title fight? Because the WBO wants the title sanctioning money and crowds in Germany are satisfied with champions like Erdei beating up third-rate opposition. I am hoping Stieglitz proves different and fights Miranda and other decent opponents in the future
