You’ve gotta laugh.
You should hold on to something, or somebody. Brace yourself, fasten your body to the furniture if you must, turn off the phone, line up the hard liquor, whatever you have to do to get you through this next statement:
One day, Manny Pacquiao will lose.
It’s true. Face it. He’s super, but he ain’t superman, and like every great fighter someone will get to him."
Now, I have a picture in my mind of half of the population of Manila scrambling to their rooftops to throw themselves off in despair, while the other half let go their breath and leap into the sea.
A Pinoy wrote back-
"Just for the benefit of the uninformed, like Mr. Geoff Poundes, who obviously need to get out of their small worlds to educate themselves regarding the vast culture of the big, wide world in order to spare them from all the idiotic stuff that their small demented minds can come up with."
I say, with or without Manny Pacquiao the Filipinos’ world will go on turning. Filipinos are a hardened lot and they will not just succumb to the hardships of life without a fight. We don’t throw ourselves from buildings just because we lose our jobs, nor do we put bullets in our heads just because we don’t have pie for Christmas. And most of all, we know how to distinguish between fact and fiction.
