Fights didn't rake in millions of dollars back in the days a lot has to do with promoting the fights and all the other crap

Fighters don't need to have heaps of fights

yes, if they weren't making the kind of money they do, they would be fighting at least 1 every month.

How did fighters recover from brutal fights back in the early days?

ice baths is one way yes but the other simple answer is they didn't recover.

often fighters would be nursing injuries as they went into their next fight. having a body that would quickly recover was something that was much more valued and much more important back then.

But you still get throwback fighters. They fight in the same manner as fighters from a bygone age.

With the money they're getting, they don't really need to fight as much.

This thread is an important reminder to remind us of the differences between fighters from yesterday and those who fight today. Money and hunger are factors in the differences in the frequency of fighting for most fighters. Some fighters fight more or less than others used to for other reasons. All we can know for sure is that, on average, fighters fight less than they used to in this day and age, and that's the truth.
