    Where is James Kirkland?

I heard he got arrested, but what did he do? How much time does he have? He was starting to become one of my favorite boxers

He got busted for a gun possession and he was already a felon...

I think he is in half-way house.

Should be out soon. Might have his first fight this summer or in the fall.

Kirkland gets 2 years in prison

Junior middleweight contender James Kirkland, who pleaded guilty in July to gun possession by a convicted felon, was sentenced Wednesday to two years in prison in U.S. federal court in his hometown of Austin, Texas.

Kirkland, who last fought in March, has been incarcerated since April at the Federal Correctional Institution in Bastrop, Texas, about 20 minutes from Austin, after being arrested for buying a firearm at a gun show. He could be out by June, according to Michael Miller, Kirkland's personal attorney and co-manager.

Its too bad he didn't fight Mike Walker like he was supposed to and instead Jacobs fought Walker......you know I think Walker would have beaten Kirkland that night, James is nowhere near the skilled boxer and athlete that Danny Jacobs is.

That makes since that James is in the FCI prison in Bastrop. Anne Wolfe just opened up her gym in Bastrop, about 15 minutes out of Austin. I passed by there yesterday.

Kirkland will need about 2-3 months training and an easy KO win before he'll be 100% ready to contend again.
