It's true that Berto is a better boxer than Margarito, but in a fight between them I would pick Margarito to win. Why? Well, Collazo's pressure gave him fits during some rounds, whereas Margarito puts constant pressure on his opponents throughout all 12 rounds until either they - or he - can't stand it no more.

What we seem to be forgetting is that whilst Margarito did get trounced by Mosley, it's highly likely he could still beat most guys at 147 with his style. Mosley is just special, and he was able to figure out a way to neutralise the pressure.

I can see your point. You may be right. But if you saw Margarito vs Paul Williams and Shane Mosley, Margarito looked extremely uncomfortable when they clinched. Mosley clinched and threw combinations though out the whole fight. William also clinched a lot. And imo clinching/smoothering is the key to beat Margarito and neutralize his pressure style.

I bring this up because Berto is a clincher and doesn't mind making it a snooze fest(in his favor) just to get the win. He would clinch and throw combinations against Margarito imo. Berto is not afraid to clinch against pressure fighters.

Ahh yeah, I forgot about the Williams-Margarito fight. It just goes to show that anyone who fights from a range and holds when up close already has the key to beat Margarito. You're right there. Berto has an annoying habit of holding like no tomorrow, so that's most likely what he'd look to do against a one-dimensional swarmer like Margarito.

It's a shame Cotto didn't know how to hold or fight from a distance.

LOL, yep. Although in Cotto's case I think it was more that he had too much pride to clinch. He had the whole undefeated record thing going on, and the macho man image. He has said in many interviews when asked why he did not clinch against Antonio Margarito he said that's not his style and he rather get knocked out than clinch. Tbb, with a little bit of clinching against Margarito, that fight would have gone all 12 rounds and Cotto could have had a chance to win at least an SD. But oh well.

I've always thought exactly this! It's the reason Cotto got broken down in the end. He moved backwards taking punishment instead of moving forward clinching/stopping Marg's momentum. Berto just needs to be strong enough to clinch and put his weight on Margarito. After that, good handspeed+ hittable target= Berto win.

I haven't seen many people count Mosley out. People were counting Mosley out in the Margarito fight because of how he looked in the Mayorga fight (and how Margarito looked in the Cotto fight).

You're only as good as your last fight as the saying goes. So now people are giving the edge to Mosley because of how he looked in his last fight (and how Berto looked in his last fights).

I've said it before, against Berto I'm expecting to see a slightly better version of the Mosley that fought Mayorga more than the Mosley that fought Margarito based on styles, and hope that's enough to get past the younger speedy Berto.
