Boxing not as popular in the USA?

Why do you think boxing isnt as popular in the States? In many world class level fights the arena attendance's are quite shocking. Ricky Hatton can fight a journeyman like Lazcano and fill a stadium to a capacity of 56,000. Some of the PPV buys are poor too considering the USA has a population of 308million. Here in the UK for instance we got over a million buys for Hatton vs. Mayweather and over 800,000 for Haye vs. Valuev and thats quite amazing considering the UK has a total population of around 60million.

No its still popular. Its just people aren't paying for PPV like they used to. I never buy fights anymore, since i notice they stream online. Most ppl just catch the HBO premiere the following Saturday.

Poor marketing, in my opinion, which in part is due to boxing being such a fragmented sport (four major sanctioning bodies, multiple weight divisions, different promoters/advisors, not to mention the boxers themselves).

We need more loud mouth boxers.

Ben and Eubank weren't shouting at each other, but they had a lot of hate or wanted to hurt each other. Their interviews were damn good to listen to in their own way.

Benn was a hard, tough talking ex army power puncher. When he spoke, I could see in his face the anger and pain he wanted to give.

Eubank use to fool around and give out this new personer. He tried to be calm, cool and collected.

We need boxers who can punch, make wars and talk English.

Pure fans like skills, but to give boxers their biggest paydays, we need KO's. We need falmboyant talkers to get in the press. We actually need fighters to grow up poor, have a hard life and hunger, to have a story, to be angry, to work hard and look scary physically and with words.

Oscar may have sold boxing to the US and some other countries, but he isn't actually that famous in the UK at all.

Someone like Tyson in th US, and a Haye. To be a PPV success, we need names out, people to chat ****, to have big ****ers with skills. Dare I say it, only English speaking fighters who have a little hate.

Pac and Floyd is set with this ****. There's now going to be hate, but will the fight get made?

I would say boxing is more popular in Europe and South America than it is in USA. The USA is fed alot of other sports like American football and basketball. If you look for boxing on television you can't find it, only poker games and reallity tv.

good post...boxing right now is looking for it's next best star,and i dont
who it is.I thought victor ortiz but that went out the window,Then i was
thinking juan manuel lopez,but he almost got got ktfo awhile back.But i
agree with you,its gonna have to be someone knockout power and talks the
talk.
