    Toney and Lamotta

Do you think that James and Jake are a lot a like the way they have that real "tough guy" type of attitude? Jake said that he should be fighting for the Heavyweight title because he is better than the heavyweights out there-that is what Toney is allways saying as well. Toney will fight for the title but Lamotta never did. What are your thoughts on this matter? Later brother brologs.

Ya know Toney it is almost like you are in my head sometimes...now that I think about it James Toney and Jake Lamotta are very similiar...if they were both the same color they could have been brothers.

Great point! TT-you will always be my favorite poster, I ****ing love you!

Physically they do share some common ground. Neither were hard punchers, but both had great chins. Roughly the same height. They both had a rough, violent personality, though I think Toney plays it up for fun and attention. LaMotta was just a nasty guy 24/7. It was no act. As a teenager he once beat a man (to death, he presumed at the time) with a lead pipe and took the guy's pocket money. Before he went into boxing he was basically a thug. Toney on the other hand does not have such a history. LaMotta was a much meaner and nastier person.

Style wise they were very different of course as LaMotta was a super aggressive swarmer and Toney is a more laid back counterpuncher.

It's a pretty good comparison, except LaMotta had the sense to realize he didn't stand a chance against Joe Louis.

One thing though, I don't know if Toney has the same determination as Lamotta did. Later brother brologs. P.S Scap is ruling the world!

You forgot that they both loved to eat.

Lamotta got fat between fights just like Toney does. I think they are simmilar in determination.

I don't know if you can really say that Joe. Toney never fought a guy like Robinson. Lamotta took Ray's best combinations and asked for more. Toney has never really been hit as hard and as often as Lamotta. He takes a shot but he has not had to battle back from the situations Jake had to.

LaMotta was never a great human being but the guy was just about the best example of a fighter that you could find. He lived to hurt people. Toney talks like that but in reality he's just a reallym really good boxer. He doesn't have the same killer instinct as LaMotta and it shows in how unimpressive he is as an offensive boxer.

Toney is intimidating- I remember the first time I saw him when he was fighting Nunn and I thought this guy looks like a real bad dude, and that was when he was loosing the fight! Later brother brologs.

I don't think that Toney could beat Lamotta. Especially at middleweight. I do think there are a lot of simmilarities between the too.

And Toney did fight someone like Robison when he fought Roy Jones. I wish Toney had won that so maybe they could fight 5 times just like La Motta and Robinson did.

The difference is that Robison was coming up from Welterweight were as Toney and Jones both were middleweights who moved all the way to heavyweight.

The simmilarties between La Motta and Toney are really kind of weird.

Same attitude. Cause Toney is definilty the most old-school fighter out.

                    Same super active records.

Both fought and lost to the best fighter of their era.

Both believed they could take out heavyweights.

Both pretty mean son of a bitches in my opinion.

Both eat a ****load and get super fat.

Maybe someday James Toney will get a movie
