Pacquiao's claim that blood testing will weaken him days before the fight is not without precedence. The great Jamaican sprinter Asafa Powell was visibly upset with the Olympic drug testing procedure before competing in the men's 100-metre final.
Asafa Powell had openly spoken that the drugs testers were going too far in the Beijing Olympics. He said that there were more testings done than is necessary days before the men’s 100 metre championship.
Powell claimed that the drug testing needles have been pointed disproportionately at him and his fellow track and field runners. In a report by the Times Online, Asafa said:
“I accept how important it is but they’re really down on my case. I got pretty upset two days ago because since I have been here, they have tested me four times. They’ve taken so much blood from us we’re going to be very weak before the final.”
In a statement in his official website, Pacquiao echoed concerns similar to what Powell had experienced.
"The truth is taking blood out of my body does not seem natural to me and mentally I feel it will weaken me if blood is taken from me just days before the fight. That does not make sense to me why anyone would do that."
Pacquiao said that he would still comply with the blood testing in order for the Mayweather- Manny megafight would push through. He had offered to give a blood sample the day of the announcement of the fight, 30 days before the fight and immediately after the fight.
The Mayweather camp rejected the offer and are very adamant about the random blood test. They pointed out that athletes like cyclist Lance Armstrong have easily complied with the drug testing procedure and had not hindered them in their quest for sporting excellence.
Bob Arum countered by saying that these athletes provided only urine and not blood samples and not too close to the day of performance.
The debate continues regarding the drug testing procedures.
As of this writing, Pacquiao has officially sued the Mayweather camp for accusing him of using performance enhancing drugs without proper evidence. However, the Filipino boxing superstar has made it known that he is still very interested in fighting Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the future.

        • damn its amazing how a mass of people can be so easily manipulated and controlled by just a few jealous men... how many of yall even suspected pacquiao was using drugs prior to the mayweather's opening their mouth ?

nobody was even thinking that , he was just being praised for being such a great fighter, but because 2-3 guys get jealous and make comments we are all suppose to agree and discredit manny for all his achievements? i dont think so. have a mind of your own , dont let the alcoholic roger mayweather fool you .

show me one drop of evidence, otherwise STFU and tell floyd jr to take a risk for once in his life .

None of them. I've offered, in numerous threads, to give ALL my points to anyone that can show me a post (before all this mess, obviously) where they accused Pacquiao of using PEDs, or called for boxing to switch to Olympic style testing.

            No takers.

The fact is, they're all a bunch of sheep.

              • pachaters musings on this forum and others, writers and bloggers, video makers speculating about manny's possible drug usage are prima facie evidence that he has in fact suffered de facto defamation by the mayweathers, goaded further by gbp and sheafer...it should be an easy case and in besmirching the name and legacy of what recently has been voted by fans worldwide as second only to srr on the goat list, the issue to be determined is damage, both in earning potentials, marketability, brand name value and punitive damages...twenty millions minimum, especially given the fact that he easily in his next few fights could draw fifteen to twenty mil per fight...it could go into the hundreds of millions...

it could be covered partially by liability insurance gbp has...but what of floyd sr....what of floyd sr...??

I dont care what Merchant or anyone else says this **** could have easily been resolved by simply taking the test. Whats wrong with that solution. Something aint right thats the only reason why these test arent being taken.

Just recently pacquiao already accepted to be blood tested randomly by the NSAC, he is willing to comply with NSAC's rules just as long they are the only one doing it. Ofcourse the NSAC will then turn over some of its blood/urine samples to USADA for further clearance. Team pacquiao just only want one agency to the test and an agency that they can trust. But lo and behold, roger mayweather just recently stated that the doctors of NSAC, the ones who'll gonna do the test are just fake doctors claimed by roger... WTF is this?!!! Don't the mayweather's want the fight or are they just a bunch of *******, manny is clearly trying to save the fight so what the F****F now??!!!

It doesn't take a genuis to figure out what's going on here!
Manny has been on the juice since he left Marquez which would explain his struggles with Marquez and his blowouts with Diaz, Delahoya, Hatton and Cotto.

Floyd Mayweather and his team are very smart going about this the right way. If only Cotto would have asked for random tests then he may have gotten a knockout. Pac is full of **** and not the fighter many fans and *******s think.
