Ortiz-Maidana FOTY?

Just wonderin what y'all think. The ending wasn't the most exciting ever, but the fight itself is right up there with some of the other ones I've heard mentioned as candidates. Crazy action. Just saw it for the first time.

Yeah, this did it for me....all of the back and forth switches in momentum made it very dramatic and special.

And not to mention the fight lasted the duration of the whole twelve rounds. All thrills and no frills was the best way to describe it.

It's up there, but I preferred Marquez-Diaz. Higher skill level and nearly as much action and drama. Marquez can't get enough credit for winning that IMO. Older, slower, smaller had a really rough time early on, and came back to adjust and knock Diaz senseless.

Ortiz-Maidana is a really good fight though, pretty wild in parts though especially on Maidana's behalf. If Ortiz boxed more he would have won that, but he slugged it out and fought Maidana's fight.

I think Williams/Martinez should get it. But boxing politics may sway things in another direction...*hint hint*

It was surely a candidate. Perhaps Ortiz was rushed and wasn't really ready for a fight like that and it might take time for him to get everybody to forget the way it ended. I'm not one that wants all warriors to go on their shield, but his reaction was so disappointing. I would rather hear him make up something like I broke my hand or something.
