Mayweather Jr. and Golden boy, dumb and dumber.

(DEC 29) Two of the greatest quotes in movie history are credited to the Godfather I and II. The first is “Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer” and the second is “Blood is a big expense”. That wisdom should have been heeded by the CEO of Golden boy promotions Richard Schaeffer and the man he is representing, Floyd Mayweather Jr. They both may have just talked themselves out of tens of millions of dollars for one nights work. Now that’s dumb. But believe me, it gets dumber. The Olympic style blood testing that they are asking of five weight division champion Manny Pacquiao, is all symbolism over any real substance. The only thing this farce from the Mayweather camp actually accomplished was to really piss off the most complete fighter in the world. And although Pacquiao has threatened legal action against Mayweather Jr , Mayweather Sr, and Golden boy promotions, the real justice maybe be dealt more swiftly and violently if these two guys actually meet in Las Vegas. What Mayweather Jr and the people at Golden boy do not get about Manny, is that he is an incredibly honorable man. Yes, he really believes “honor” is something that is tangible. To him, it is something that can be touched. He doesn’t carry around 1000.00 dollar bills like his counterpart “Money” Mayweather. He doesn’t have ten houses or tri-colored Hummers. All that stuff is cheap compared the cost and price of his honor, which he feels he earned, and which he also believes is being questioned and in some cases, outright destroyed.
Five weight division champion Manny Pacquiao is a very mild mannered considerate person outside the ring that is until now. Pacquiao is said to be filing a defamation suit against Golden boy promotions, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and possibly Floyd Mayweather Sr. The Nevada state Athletic commission has demanded the immediate urine testing of both fighters at approved labs in the Philippines and the United States. But is that enough for the ever untrusting Floyd Mayweather Jr. Manny Pacquiao should take this assault and wear it as a badge of honor. Think about it. The Mayweather people cannot believe that Manny could ever accomplish what he has without some type of performance enhancer. Let’s face it; it’s almost unbelievable that Pacquiao started his career at 106 lbs with rolls of pennies in his shoes to make weight, and has moved up five weight classes and totally demolished world class fighters. Manny should be feeling pretty good about how amazing they really think he is. The same doubts of greatness could be thrown at Mayweather. He spends a long time away between his fights, and is always in spectacular condition. In fact, it is even more unbelievable when you look at his inactivity and his total dominance of De La Hoya, Hatton and Marquez.
"This is a false issue that is being raised for maybe three reasons. One, an attempt to smear Pacquiao and those people that have done that will pay the price because litigation is going to proceed.
"Number two because it is convenient way for Mayweather to not fight Pacquiao who he knows he can't beat.
"Number three there is the possibility it is a way to disconcert Pacquiao who they know and knew doesn't like to give blood immediately in the weeks prior to a fight when he is in training because he believes, rightly or wrongly, that it saps his strength.
"The reason they know this is that Pacquiao last defeat was to Erik Morales and he had been directed to give a blood test that the state commission require, that he needed for a license, for HIV and hepatitis. He did it, they took his blood test 10 days before the fight, he claims that it sapped his strength and loses to Morales.
BOB ARUM
"Let the record be clear: Manny Pacquiao and his promoter Bob Arum are threatening to walk away from the largest fight in history,"
MAYWEATHER CAMP
“Blood is a big expense”
If Mayweather wants this Olympic style blood testing to happen, he is going to have to look for another fight. Top rank will never go for it. Bob Arum feels he is the man that made Floyd Mayweather who he is. He promoted him through 36 of his fights. He is not going to bow before the greatness that is Floyd Mayweather Jr. Think of the money that will go “bye bye” if Golden Boy and Mayweather let this one slip away. How about a record gate at the MGM toppling 20 million? That’s just the gate. How about another 3 million PPV buys that would amount to a whopping 180 million dollars? It isn’t out of the question, considering De La Hoya / Mayweather generated 2.4 million buys and an 18 million dollar gate. With all the testing that is already done by Nevada, is this ridiculous demand worth over 200 million?
“Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer”
Floyd Mayweather Jr did something brilliant before his first mega –fight ever. He even is quoted as saying that he pretended to be friendly with Oscar de La Hoya. He went along with all the hoopla, but once the deal was signed, he went after De La Hoya like he never went after anyone. He dangled chickens, talked trash, and on fight night, he unceremoniously whooped his ass. Be smart Floyd. If you know you can beat Manny, then go along to get along. You will be paid like no other athlete in the history of the planet earth for only one nights work!
