Gegard Mousasi postpones Boxing debut for later next year.

    Taken from Headkick Legend

Mousasi stated that he was indeed planning to make his professional boxing debut in January, however that fight has been canceled because it would come so soon after the Goodridge fight. The fight was going to take place in the heavyweight division. A former amateur boxer, Mousasi has made it clear that he wants to try out boxing to supplement his MMA career - when he signed with Strikeforce in the summer he expressed a desire to fight for Showtime's boxing division. Despite the current delay, Mousasi still plans to pursue boxing: "I wanted to try it out and see how I will do. I will do it eventually, but this time the timing wasn't right."

One of the top ranked MMA fighters in the world, Mousasi has already tried his hand at K-1 (defeating Musashi at Dynamite 2008) and taken part in a submissions exhibition with Fedor for M-1. With his commitment to trying out different styles, Mousasi may be creating the blueprint for the next generation of true "Mixed Martial Arts" fighters - those who are capable of competing professionally in different forms of fighting sports. At a young age, constantly improving, and under the guidance of Fedor, Mousasi has the potential to be not only one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world, but an all time great. Let's hope we get to see him back in K-1 action at some point.
I'd be very interested in seeing how he'll do. Mousasi has done well in the amateur ranks and pretty much trains standing in Stary Oskol with Fedor.

Never heard of him and that video makes it hard to determine if he is a good stand up fighter. With his schedule it seems like it would be hard for him to do well in boxing though. Boxing is one art so you must focus very hard on it because that's all your opponent is focusing on as well. He looks like he has decent foot work though.

I think his timing is perfect. The heavyweight division isn't particularly loaded with talent, and he's got a solid skillset, from what I've seen.

I'd like to see how he fares.
