This was a thought I had in my mind I mean clearly there are fighters out there like Evander Holyfield who have used their heads as a extra weapon. People will say oh he comes in head won it is just his style of fighting. or these two guys with the styles they have will probably make for a lot of clashing of the heads. In Wards recent fights or Tim Bradley the use of the head has been something other fghters have complained about. To me head butts are deemed accidental or caused in part of both fighers not one fighter intentionally putting his head down and coming up into the others face and chin. There are alot of dirty tatics that fghters emply when one figther is holding on the inside that may make the fighter think twice about grabbing on. Using the elbow wrenching the arms and in some cases moving their heads around causing cuts and clashes of the head.....Lefty
AT WHAT POINT does EXCESSIVE HEADBUTTING become a FOUL or ACCIDENTAL?

Silencers when a guy like HOlyfield who is taller then Tyson has the top of his head below Tyson chin and is constantly coming up with the hardest part of his head hitting Tyson in the brow or the chin that is intentional. Ward did the same to Kessler and Bradley does it all the time. For god sakes Hopkins is a master of using his famous two punch combination lead right hand follwed by a quick headbutt to the chin. Floyd used that elbow excessively against Hatton...LeftyComment

I never thought Holyfield did it to hurt his opponents, neither does Bradley. Holyfield once said that he would put his head right on and opponents shoulder, it was his opponents job to take it away, if he wouldn't he would keep it there, inevitably headbutts will happen when you do that. Bradley does the same thing IMO.Silencers when a guy like HOlyfield who is taller then Tyson has the top of his head below Tyson chin and is constantly coming up with the hardest part of his head hitting Tyson in the brow or the chin that is intentional. Hopkins on the other hand, yeah, he's a dirty fighter. I don't think he even hides the fact that he is.Comment

This is one the reasons I dont like watching Hopkins fights some of those headbutts have been vicious, Jermain Taylor I and Mercado I come to mind.Silencers when a guy like HOlyfield who is taller then Tyson has the top of his head below Tyson chin and is constantly coming up with the hardest part of his head hitting Tyson in the brow or the chin that is intentional. Sometimes its accidental Pacquiao Morales I springs to mind, some boxers are like rhinos: Clottey, Hopkins and Holyfield. I remember Holyfields fight with Toney, from about round 2 onwards he was constantly trying too headbutt Toney. Nady should of started to take points after the third warning.Comment

A lot of head clashes occur when both fighters dip to their left then come up with a hook resulting in the right sides of the head coming together. However, there's no excuse for dropping your head down and lunging into your opponent as you throw a shot. That's blatant cheating and should be penalised straight away. Ultimately though it's down to the discretion (and integrity) of the ref. If a fighter is unnaturally throwing shots where it's clear his intent is to butt heads then that should be clamped down on immediately.Comment

I thought Holyfield was one of the most dirty fighters in the sport. He walks around talking about god and when he got in the ring he would smash you to death with his head. Use his elbows to gain leverage and hold excessivley especially against Tyson, Toney and Lewis....LeftyI never thought Holyfield did it to hurt his opponents, neither does Bradley.
