Incidentally, I was just rewatching a couple of old Countdowns (Marquez - Pacquiao II and Pavlik Taylor I) and they weren't bad little programs really. Sort of like condensed 24 7s without all the random bull in the middle. They're still perfect for smaller fights, where you want a decent buildup to the event, some background on the fighters and so on. Bring 'em back, says I.

Countdowns were a great idea. Shame we don't get a countdown for Mosley/Berto or Malignaggi/Diaz 2 but we get nonstop coverage of Calzaghe/Jones? Or footage of Cotto playing in a pool and eating meat on a stick? Who really needs to see Enzo hunt down Joe's Gumshield. The crazy thing is that was one of the more interesting portions of the show.
