Comments Thread For: Top Rank, Golden Boy: Legal Battle For Pacquiao Coming

By Rick Reeno - We all knew the negotiations to finalize Floyd Mayweather Jr vs. Manny Pacquiao would be a very difficult process. Nobody could have ever predicted the scenario of events that played out in the last few days. Earlier in the year, when Mayweather announced his return to the sport, it didn't take a genius to figure out the end-result of his comeback - a big-money showdown with Pacquiao.

If the argument is that GBP has a conflict of interest in regards to asking for drug testing while having a stake in Pac, then wouldnt Arum also have had a conflict of interest in negotiating for Cotto to come in at 145?

        Sounds like a double standard........

i really hope that manny sues these idiots and takes a lot of their money.

you can't ring a bell like that and not face the consequences, you can't accuse someone of taking drugs without any evidence and just be able to walk away.

you mess with a man's livelihood, his career and think that its just a couple of words ... what does it matter if its true or not.

the mayweathers are nothing but a bunch of low-lifes that live off the money that floyd jr. brings in. without him, they'd just be a bunch of crack pushers on the streets.

I could be wrong but 145 was Cotto's counter I think. From what I remember, Pacquiao wanted something like 142-143. Cotto held his ground that he would not go any lower than 145.

Mayweather is not a GBP fighter. He pays them a fee. Pacquiao in some way could be viewed as a GBP fighter on some elevel. They even list him as one of their fighters on the GB website.

i think there's more to it than that.

i read golden boy talked to the usada people 3-4 months ago about pacquiao.

pacquiao/arum can make a case that golden boy is not serving pacquiao's interests yet benefiting from him financially.

i think uncle bob found away to get rid of golden boy's cut.

i think golden boy would have made more money from this fight than top rank would have.

golden boy represents mayweather. golden boy co-promotes pacquiao with top tank when pacquiao fights golden boy fighters.

Well its not the drug testing itself that makes it a conflict of interest, its the damaging comments by schaeffer that makes it so.

As for Cotto and 145, it could be double standard, but Cotto did not take any action, therefore to him there is no conflict.

This is unfortunate for Pac fans to suffer this kind of indignity from the hands of Gaydelahoya. What a bigger a$$hole he made himself to be than the Mayweathers.
