The dumbest thing I heard this week:

Mario Viet, talking about whether Joe Calzaghe will KO him again in a single round (it happened the first time they met, and Joe's been boasting about going to repeat the trick)

"He can't even know if my chin is strong or weak, because last time we fought he hit me on the cheek."

Eh?!!!? He can't know if he can knock me out on the chin cos last time he knocked me out on the cheek? What? That's like Roy Jones saying Glen Johnson doesn't know if his chin is strong or not because he knocked him out on the temple.

If the guy's knocking you out, then... what the **** does it matter?!!!?

Mario Veit is a prime example of why the WBO is the most worthless belt on the planet...the guy gets KO'd in the 1st round, then a few years later gets re-instated as the #1 contender for the 2nd time...ridiculous!

The IBF is seconds-worst, Mauricio Pastrana got 2 shots at Raf Marquez, and Robert Allen and Echols each got multiple undeserved shots at B-Hop

No they were mandatory contenders, they had no choice other than giving up the title

Didn`t Echols floor Hopkins in their first fight. i think the ref ruled it a slip but general opinion was that it was a legit KD! It went the distance too so i believe that the IBF gave Echols a mandatory rematch because of his strong showing in the first encounter!

              hmm

I have no knowledge of if it was a legit KD, but it would not surprise me. Nard has been down before. He is tough but his very technically-sound boxing style helps him from getting knocked down, not just his chin. Bernard's whole set is designed to deflect someone else's offense. The way he holds his chin, the placement of his hands. If he fought like Roy did he'd probably get KO'd too. Nard is a very smart and respected fighter and getting knocked down by Echols is nothing to be ashamed of.

Oscar Bonavena was one tough son of a *****. I've read stories of the guy just blowing apart wooden doors with one punch, all over money that he was owed. He was not someone you would want to **** with.
