Mayweather-Cotto at 154! Make it happen!

if the pacquiao fight doesn't go down, this is the only mayweather fight i'd see (maybe mosley as well.. depending on how he looks against berto).

would be a good fight to seal cotto's career, seeing as how mayweather isn't that offensive-oriented or agressive. he wouldn't take much punishment and i think he has a shot at beating floyd. floyds chin and power is still untested (unline manny who's proven it already) in the WW division, he hasn't fought any of the "threat names" in it.

I don't think I want to see May-Cotto as much as before. It would be interesting, but I think Mayweather picks him apart and wins a UD. Cotto could do some decent work in the fight though.

Oh yeah, and why should it be at 154?

154 because both fighters can make the weight at this point in their careers. it's a comfortable weight for both, specially for cotto (an advantage he'd have going into the fight).

mayweather has expressed before he isn't bothered fighting at 154 and he made the weight when he fought de la hoya. so it shouldn't be a problem.

cotto, being a local here in puerto rico, (besides the article reports) it is well known he had a problem making 145. he was starving to make the weight. specially when he walks around 160+, his build at this point is better suited at a comfortable weight of 154. he'd have his natural power (without losing much weight), maybe not as fast but his performance would be more solid.

also 154 would make the fight more intriguing and interesting for the fans. i'd sell better.

Nah, I believe 147 would be fine. I haven't heard of Cotto or Mayweather struggling to make 147. Cotto would probably be more healthy at 154, but his body should be used to 147.

A couple of years ago this fight would have been huge but now is not the same. If it happens in New York, Cotto would have a nice advantage because of the fans and their reactions to what he does in the ring, but that would not help him compesate for his deteriorating skills and it might not be enough to get the W. It would be interesting though.

I think it's a good idea for Floyd to test his mettle with Cotto before facing Pac this September.

cotto would have to grow hair first before floyd fights him(mind games)
