    Maidana: I want Ortiz again

Almost two weeks after he succesfully defended the WBA Super Lightweight Interim title for the first time with a TKO win in three rounds over Panama’s William González, Argentina’s Marcos Maidana is ready to for his next challenge. And that could be Amir Khan. “I watched Khan’s victory over Dimitri Salita. It was a good performance, quite impressing. But I did my part by beating González, so now we are both ready to unify the WBA crown and determine who the real champions is,” enthused Maidana.
Indeed, before both champions made their respective defenses (Maidana on November 21st and Khan on December 5th), the World Boxing Association had ordered them to face each other within the next 90 days.

“I’ll be starting my training camp for Khan early on January as I was told I have to face him. I hope we meet in the ring as soon as possible ‘cause I don’t want to be called the ‘Interim’ champion. I want the whole thing. I’m sure he (Khan) thinks the same way,” added the hard puncher born in the province of Santa Fe, in a small town called Margarita, just 50 kilometers away from legendary Carlos Monzon’s native town.

Argentina’s boxing brightest ***el in years, Maidana had a great year yet it started bitterly when he dropped a highly controversial decision to then-WBA Super Lightweight champ Andreas Kotelnik, in February, in Germany.

Almost five months later, on June 27th, however, Maidana had his new world title shot sooner than expected as he faced hot prospect Víctor Ortiz, then considered by many as Oscar de la Hoya’s heir.

Under new trainer, fellow compatriot and vastly experienced Miguel Diaz, Maidana and his team went to America for the first time to complete the preparation of a fight that they considered a life or death situation.

Maidana’s debut on American soil could not have been better as he proved he is one of the hardest punchers in the game by stopping Ortiz in the sixth round in a thriller, best fight of the year candidate, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and broadcasted on HBO.

“That was an unforgettable day. But I cannot live from memories. So now I want to take myself to the next level. I’d love to fight back in America or wherever boxing’s big scenarios are. At the present time that kind of challenge is Amir Khan. I cannot wait to step into the ring with him to define who is the real WBA champion,” said Maidana.

    HE DIDN'T REALLY SAY THAT
, JUST TO STOP U MOFOS TALKING ABOUT PAC/FMJ
