Harold Lederman on Pac and NSAC drug testing

"I can't see him using any form of performance enhancing drugs to get where he's at. Listen, anything is possible but really, I highly really doubt it. Nobody's ever said a word about it and he just doesn't seem to be like a guy that's cut like a guy that's on steroids.

You can't get away with that (steroids) in Vegas. I just don't see how you could. Vegas tests you before the fight. Vegas tests you after the fight. And I believe right now the test is for 30 steroids. The technology is getting too good, you can't fool them anymore you know, i guess unless you stop taking the steroids weeks before the fight and it's all out your system, I don't know. In all honesty I just don't think that he's using anything. He's done it on his own with hard work and good training and excellent technique and all the other things that we see."

      "Creams
, transdurmals, clear the fastest. Orals, would be next. Water-based drugs- including testosterone- would be next, then the oil-based. So some of these can clear in a matter of hours and days," explained Conte."So if you know when you're going to be tested a week out, you go off the use of oral testosterone, for example, you're going to test negative. So that is really an issue."

Accoring to him,"Traditional testing in boxing, it's basically worthless other than the detection of some types of stimulant, before and after a fight."

"The Nevada State Athletic commission conducts scientific and state of the art drug testing before fights. Fighters that have been caught with some form of banned substance in their system include Fernando Vargas, Ricardo Mayorga, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, Omar Nino and a long list of many others. Pacquiao has never failed a drug test, even back when blood was drawn from him prior to his first fight against Erik Morales in 2005."

All it takes is weeks for it to clean out...Arum is asking for no blood tests 30 days before the fight which is 4 weeks and enough to get the roids out of the system. With that said I'm with Lederman, I don't think Pacquiao is using any performance enhancing drugs.

I like Harold, he's a cool and everything but he's being VERY naive here. The main reason why it's so easy to beat the test is because there's no random testing and they only test you once before and after the fight and you know exactly when you have to take the test. Its very easy to get away with using steroids in boxing.
