Underdog Fun - This year's bets

If you're going to bet on boxing, then what better than to bet on an underdog? And if that underdog is as disregarded as Danny Williams vs. Tyson, Johnson vs. Jones, or, amazingly, Carl Thompson against David Haye, then a win will cancel out about three losses.

Okay, I slipped up by putting money on Oscar vs. Hopkins (I thought he must know something) but so far the year's been pretty good. So here's my new bets, with the odds from bet365.com (I'm not on comission, that's just where I place my bets).

Danny Williams vs. Vitali Klitschko at 5/1

And on 20/02/2005, Howard Eastman vs. Bernard Hopkins at 7/2.

I make all my bets with www.bet365.com but I wouldn't advise betting on Williams...he don't stand a chance!

There is money to be made by betting on the underdog because the fan support for the favorite shifts the parody out of whack.

If you always bet agaist the favorite, over time you will make money and you can say that "you called it" every time you win.

Yeah, you can, but I'm talking about considered underdogs.

Every one I'd mentioned I'd weighed up the odds. I didn't necessarily think Danny would win against Tyson, but he had far more chance than the odds gave him.

I like your style, I too frequently make bets and when I do they have to be the underdog. However I will not be betting on either of these two fights I believe the favorite will win easilly in both fights. A fight that you should take a look at will be (if it happens) Trinidad v. Sturm, the odds may be really high for this one. And I know there is no way Felix can get away from Sturm's jab. Now taking Titos left will probably be a different story but this fight if the odds open up right which I think they will would be a great fight to play.

Nice tip. Here's one in return (actually not my own, but from WBO Cruiserweight champ Johnny Nelson on SKY last night) - if Scott Harrison gets to fight Barrera, Barrera will underestimate him.
