Yuri Arbachakov - Why'd He Retire After 1 Loss?

So Arbachakov wins the WBC Flyweight title in only his 13th pro fight, very good. He successfully defends it 9 times, very good. He then loses to Sasakul (a man he already beat) in his 10th attempted defense.

    - Why didn't he rematch him?

    - He was 30/31 yrs old, why'd he retire?

    - How strong/weak was the division that he fought in at the time and how good was his opposition that he beat?
( i don't know **** about the Flyweights of that time period.)

Could somebody please shed some light on all of this for me. His career seems kinda strange.

    Please and Thank You.

That's a good question. I don't remember if he was inactive for a while prior to that final bout but I believe he was. Still, doesn't explain why he walked away although it was clear he was slipping.

Did you follow that division during the time? Can you tell me how quality his opposition and wins were?

I know he was recovering from a wrist injury. He didn't have strong opposition but many observers feel he was a very capable boxer although he did not always give his best effort in the ring.

They barely showed his fights over here but he was a staple on the pound for pound lists. I believe he fought mostly out of his home country. I've seen only two fights of his, one of which was the loss. Very impressive skills. Such a shame he never fought any of the other top opponents around back then.

Thanks to both of you for your replies.

I'v only been able to find 3 of his fights so far so thanks for this one.

Hopefully someone in the trading block will have some of his that they're willing to share, isn't really anything on him in there.
