Maybe in the rematch (if there is one) he will keep all that in mind and do much better. That backing straight back is bad..no matter who it is. As for admitting he's hurt..I dont think he's got that in him. Too fiesty for that. With him giving up just doesnt seem like an option.
Yeah, I just think the magnitude of the fight got to him, and when he realized that Morales was also THAT good, worries settled in. as for lifting his hands, Morales used that against him. Mimicing Manny at times to get to his head. At one point, Manny lifted his hands, and Morales came to attack catching him off guard. he doesn't have to admit he was hurt, but he doesn't have to signal he wasn't everytime. I know Manny can play mindgames with that as well but not against EM.

If they wore Manny's gloves, Manny would have most likely been knocked out if the situation played out exactly the same and I don't see why not. I really don't think Morales was hurt by a body shot in beginning, the announcers made it seem that way because they couldn't see Morales face, he was just staying low letting Manny throw shots at him and fake him. It was clear he did that when he exploded back at Manny once Manny was threw with that. Manny had nothing on Morales that night. Every advantage was to Morales, experience, height, arm length(why did it say Manny had the longer reach in tale of tape?), mentality, and seemed hungrier to win as it would really get into Barrera's head with the victory and ruin a big payday for Barrera rematch with Manny.

You would think since Roach has been around more than long enough to know just how good Erik is, that there would have been no doubt in Manny's mind what he was up against. Realizing it in the ring is very bad timing.
As for what Erik did..well, experience and ring smarts go a long way dont they. I think he'll do better in a rematch, and even though I like Manny, I still think Erik would win it too..regardless of the gloves. He has so many assets in the ring..and he's damned hard to overcome. If he had taken the third fight with Barrera even half serious, I think that fight would have gone completely different from the way it did.

Here's the right answer to the thread:

            Morales is BETTER than Pacquaio

he always ahs been, he always will be....

if they fight 100 times, Morales will have 100 more victories

Nah he was hurt, he was boxing Manny then when the body shot landed, he froze and folded. Even holding his right rib with his left glove. He didn't throw anything till he got his breath back which was something he had to do unless he wants Manny to unlesh more hell. Once a puncher like Manny smells that your hurt, you're in for a lot more hurting unless you convince him you're not and make him think twice about going all out. But I agree, on that night, Manny had nothing on him.

Well not that much better man. Even though Morales won, Manny was only down by 2 points and fought the 2nd half of the fight with 1 eye. Never know what could have happened if he didn't get cut. Though as far as that goes, I also believe Manny completely underestimated Morales' speed. In every interview prior to the fight when they asked Manny what he thought about Morales, he kept saying, he looks good though he's slowed down a lot and isn't as fast as he used to be. This was most likely taken into thought after the 3rd fight with Barrera where Barrera came in like 10 lbs less than Morales! That could be reason a he was so much faster than Morales and gave the impression he was slower that night which he was. Though then Manny decides to come in at nearly the same weight as Morales, what was he thinking? He gave away his speed advantage completely right there and that turned around and seemed to bite him in the ass with Morales the faster guy that night.

Yeah Roach really bugged me when he said they underestimated Morales a bit. The rematch would be a heck of a lot closer if Manny keeps working on building himself towards a more complete fighter. I've always thought Morales was better than Barrera and in a 4th fight he'd get the win but it would always be close in the cards.

roach was banking on the erik morales who fought barrerra. the one who stodd still when hit and traded. it's too bad roach didn't bank on the erik morales who could box and used the JMM blue print. barerra beat erik beacuse of his shorter inside punches and lateral movement...pac's got a straight in straight out movement that works well with his stiff left straight but it's bad news if the guy is taller with a great straight of his own. i'm not a pac hater...i'm filipino so i 'can't'...lol...but when pac signed this fight i knew it was bad news. that 'manila ice' was a complete dud...pac needs to go back to school....

Roach even made public with his gameplan, and of course, Morales camp took that advice.
