Okay, so I haven't watched this show since the first one, but last night when it was on I decided to have another look at it, just for the hell of it. What caught my eye was in the fight at the end how the fighters did so much showboating and playacting in the ring. It just didn't look right to me. Very few fighters play around so much in the ring...and since these guys are still up-and-comers I'm sure they would normally be against doing so much of that in what are still smalltime fights.
The thing is that they must be getting coached by the show's producers to do this sort of thing. This gets me worried about how much the show interferes with the fights. In boxing you can't help but be a little paranoid, I guess. But the thing is that this is doing a disservice to the sport because it's making it look phoney and weird. If it comes out that the show was messing with the fights, that will just be another black eye for boxing.
It also worries me how the fights go back and forth so much, and the "underdogs" seem to win so much. Also, how come we don't get to see the scores at the ends of each fight?
The thing I'm worried most about is the acting lessons these guys are getting. No way should TV producers be telling a fighter how to act.
