^^^that won't happen. Here's why
- Penalosa a superfly @ 115lbs will not starve himself to get down to 105lbs and fight WBO minimumweight champ Calderon.
- Penalosa is targetting IBF bantam champ Rafa Marquez @ 118lbs.
- If he can't get to Rafa, he wants WBO bantamweight champ Sor Vorapin whom he TKO'd 4 years ago.
- Gerry may opt to fight WBC superfly champ Kawashima and try to get back that green belt he once wore.

Nice call Mai Pen, this is a good scenario for the Gerry's last hurrah, i really think that one more tough fight he can challenge Rafa, on the other hand Sor Vorapin is a much easier route....Originally posted by mai.pen.rai.krap^^^that won't happen. Here's why

I agree bro. Either the WBC champ Veeraphol Sahaphrom (that's a remote possibility though, he's been really protected) or the WBO champ Sor Vorapin.
The easiest route to a championship belt however, is through WBC superfly champ Kawashima a boxer/slugger who TKO'd Penalosa's nemesis Tokuyama.Comment

Go for Wakashima then . . . Gerry is not getting any younger at 32 he should have all the guts and experience to go for the big fights . . . no hold backs.

He should target Rafael Marquez while he still can (and while Marquez hasn't moved up in weight). From his previous two fights though I see that he still has the power but needs to work on speed and movement.Comment

Yeah that's a good target Bro. but realistically he cannot get a crack at Rafa just like that. Gerry has got to earn it so he needs to get a couple of wins against named fighters . . . and who can that be but the belt holders in the superfly.Comment
