    An intersting weekend of boxing

So, we have seen a lot this weekend.

Dominic Guinn in a draw that should have been a win. He's done. There's really not much more to say about you.

Jamile McCline has answered the question of whether or not he can be a contender. He can't. It's a shame, too. With his size and the incredible handspeed he has for a man his size, he could have been a threat if he had learned how to use them.

Calvin Brock certainly elevated his status in beating McCline. It wasn't a spectacular perfomance, but he showed that he can get off his ass and win, plus he lasted 10 rounds with a 265 pound man doing his best John Ruiz imitation. I don't know that you will ever be champ, but you stand as good a chance as anyone else right, and better than most.

Shane Mosely put on a good show back at welterweight. I honestly think that neither he nor DLH will reign there again, but he's at least back at a weight where he can shine. He should give us some more good fights.

Estrada went in a heavy underdog, but he still made a good showing. I think he's still in the mix, though I don't think that he will be a champion. Good test for up and comers, though. He has a lot of good, money fights left in his career.

Little Klit apparently showed some skills, though the level of opposition was questionable at best. I'm about to watch this one even though I know the outcome and, by all reports, it was a snorefest. I would really like to see Wlad back on top. It adds excitement to the division.

Margarito, I love him. I thought that he would win this over a distance fight, but I thought that Cintron had just as good a chance of killing him in the early rounds. Great chin, great ability to see where he needs to be throwing and delivering. All props to you.

Cintron. You folded like a paper doll. Take 6 months off, work on BOXING skills. You now know that your serious power may not serve you as well against the higher levels if that's all you bring. Add some movement and a variety of punches and you can still be a threat. Even more of a threat that you were supposed to be tonight.

Jason Litzau, I will be watching you. You might be exciting in the future.

Chavez Jr, another win. When will we see you against some real competition? I wouldn't want to have to fill your daddy's shoes, either.

All in all, this has been the best weekend of boxing I've seen in a while.

Antonio Margarito and Calvin Brock are this weekend's winners. Mosley and Wlad are buying time; I'm not sold that either will be champ again, but I'm not saying they won't eventually.

Castillo and Estrada won't be on TV any time soon...

Next weekend is gonna be a fun heavyweight one with the fight on HBO and also Samuel Peter going on Friday. I like watching Peter and assuming he wins friday I would like to see him square off against Brock. It is time these prospects started picking one another off...
