Valdez was never in the same league as Cermeno, he qualified for the shot by beating another unknown. He was Knocked out in Japan and never exibited any outstanding skills. Why all the mismatches? He has a big heart, but that alone is not enough to warrent a title match.

He was robbed of a victory over Fernando Montiel plus has wins over Herriberto Ruiz, M Pastrana, and Cecilo Santos. He was top ten material

Montiel was an unknown? No kidding.

Valdez actually won that fight. No matter what they say.
