I like him as a fighter. He did have times when he hugged, but mainly when in trouble. He was overrated near the Maywetaher period, but he had a resume full of decent names by then. Maybe 5 or 6.

I respect him for leaving Warren and going after the big fights. It earnt him big paydays and 2 good KTFO/D GIF's for living memory.

I recall Webler111 recently saying in a thread where Ricky got a lot of hate for being a **** boxer and not using his brain but using his head as a defense.

He said something along the lines of,

"You guys don't get it, Ricky was a warrior, even when he got dropped by Pac 2 times in the first, he still came in the 2nd trying to fight Pac toe
to toe. Say what you want about his style and skills, but he was a warrior willing to fight at all costs"

He underachieved for me, he never had the lifestyle or discipline of an athlete and it cost him.

            I still respect him though

Tszyu in 2002 had only one bout, beating the top-ranked contender of all three of his belts, Ben Tackie of Ghana by a decision in twelve rounds. Tszyu lost only one round on only one of the judges scorecards in a masterful display of boxing.

On January 19, 2003, Tszyu began the year by retaining his title against former World Champion Jesse James Leija by a knockout in six. After the fight, held in Melbourne, Tszyu announced that fight could be his last in Australia, due to pressure from promoters to fight in the United States. (The win against Leija came on the birthday of Tszyu's son.)

His first fight in 2004 was supposed to have been held on February 7 in a rematch against Sharmba Mitchell. It would have been Tszyu's first fight as a professional in Moscow, but Tszyu injured his shoulder during training. He had successful surgery to correct the problem, but the injury further extended his absence from the ring. On November 6, he and Mitchell finally had their rematch, with Tszyu knocking Mitchell out once again, this time in three rounds. Tszyu was voted comeback fighter of the year by Ring magazine. The bout which was aired on American cable giant, Showtime, actually made the end of year highlight reel on rival cable provider, HBO. This was unprecedented

I'm not gonna argue with that. Kosta is a masterful 140'er. Hatton is good, but Tsyu IMO is great. Very underrated these days

I agree with this thread. People love to **** all over anyone who loses but don't realize that to get to the point where you are fighting a P4P fighter, you have to be pretty damn good yourself. Did the Brit factor help his cause? Sure, but that doesn't take away from what he did accomplish in the ring.

I got nothing against Ricky but if he is to fight Amir, Amir is going to **** him up. This Amir beats any Ricky (Pre-PBF or Past Pacman)
