Watched the fight of Porter last night, the commentators said that Portem might moved down to 147 cuz the most of the 154 fighters are too tall for him.

If Porter does go downto 147, maybe a Cotto vs Porter fight.

then he'll have Mosley going to 154lbs, Pacquiao or Mayweather going for their 7th or 8th div title..etc..

and to answer your questions..Cotto has never really had that speed...his timing is what helped him with those swift quick fighters..but he also slowed them down by taggin them to the body..his power will probably increase and be NASTY cuz he'll probably be about 160-163 on fight night..comfortable..only thing is he needs to pace himself..and make his shots count..ultimately..I think he needs his corner back..Evangelista with Cotto at 154lbs would be GREAT!..I got faith in that..
That's a good scenerio. Cotto wins the title at 154 then maybe wants a rematch with Pac and Roach wants that 8th division title so they move up to for the rematch beat cotto win an 8th division and retire, or cotto shows up with a different strategy and possibly but not likely pulls out a UD

Porter is too short for 154, so is Cotto.
Not saying they cant be successful, people forget that Tyson was too short for HW.

Cotto was a small WW. He would be a very small JMW and most of them would beat him in my opinion. He got beat because he was too small at 147 against Marg and was the same size as Pac. He would lose against any of the top JMW's. He could probably beat Foreman though.

To be honest, coming a Cotto fan, I think Cotto's done.

Physically? no, but mentally he can't do it anymore.

154 IMO is a bad idea for him. He would beat Foreman, but the rest although hes probably more skilled, the size difference will overcome late in fights and he'd lose.

Id like to see his uncle back or a trainer to put him on the right track, but knowing Cotto -he'll keep Santiago and have a rough 2010.

I don't know he seems set on retiring when he hits 30. He's been saying that **** since before the Shane Mosley fight so is not something he is thinking about now because he is losing. Tbh with you win or lost I think he will retire and maybe comeback a couple of years down the road

Timing you right but Cotto actually has pretty good speed and he uses it some times. My biggest concern is the size and power of the 154 pounders. Two examples of great 147 pounder that move up and took a step back are Mosley and Duran. Mosley never look good in that division but he was a speed fighter, Duran did not look good at 154 either and he look fat so is going to be interesting if he does move up maybe is for the better. But tbh with you I got a bad feeling about 154.

I'm saying if Cotto gets his momentum back..I can't see him retiring..at only 30..32 or 33 maybe..but it's hard to see him retire now if he goes back on a streak..now say he gets beat by Foreman or struggles too much..he'll probably go back to 147lb beat Collazo and call it a career...lol

and about the power of the 154lbers..look at Pacquiao..as he's gone up..his chin has become GRANITE!..he got wobbled and dropped by much lesser fighters..and Duran looked sloppy at 154 and 160 because he started out at jr featherweight..Cotto was stocky for 140 and went to 147..and between those 2 divisions was PULLED down by Torres..and took 2 VOLUNTARY knees..so I'm not worried about his chin..I think he can take out some solid Jr Middleweights..

If he gets beat by Foreman he will retire. At least from his comments he said "A fight in June and if we come out good we fight in October and retire" For real I don't think winning or losing will have any saying in his decision to retire. He once said that if it was up to him he cwould have retired years ago.

I am not worried about his chin at all but what I am worried is his that his body/face can't handle punishment anymore. If you look at his fight with Pacquiao his face started to get red and swolen like in the second round. That is a sign of a guy that needs a break. Now Foreman might not have the biggest power but but we don't know how much Cotto can take. I think bhe better getv a new trainer or get back witrh Evangelista because no matter who he faces at 154 it will be a whole different ball gtame and he can't keep all those amateurs around him anymore.
