Not surprising,

Chavez was notorious for slow starts. He'd use the first few rounds to time his opponent and gauge their power. Once he felt he was able to take their best shots with ease, he'd get to work.

I see a little bit of his style in Floyd...

It’s funny I was going to say the exact opposite. I found it interesting Roger coaches Floyd and Floyd has the slick counter punching style where Roger in his boxing heyday was an in your face ****er. No shoulder rolls from Roger just straight ****ing.

There is some style overlap, and Roger was not pure puncher. He could box. He beat someone aggressive almost entirely with the jab, name escapes me right now, in a fashion quite like Mayweather-Marquez.
