Would Pacman over Mayweather be better for boxing?

I was thinking earlier today about which outcome of the megaultrasuperfight would be of greater benefit to the sport of boxing and am interested in everyone else's thoughts on the topic...

    Outcome #1:

-Mayweather either wins a convincing decision or by TKO/KO/RTD some other form of ass-whoopage.

I see this being the least preferable scenario, as Mayweather would most likely retire again afterward and assuming Mosley beats Berto people would once again be all over his case wanting to see Mosley-Mayweather. MAYBE Floyd takes that fight, but who knows. Something tells me though that May would just retire at this point and bask in the glory of defeating Pacman.

    Outcome #2:

-Mayweather wins a very close fight by decision or late stoppage, etc.

In this case, a re-match would be possible but Mayweather could retire again rather than take a rematch...or go on to fight Mosley assuming Mosley wins. But again, Floyd may not take that fight and could choose to retire altogether after defeating Pac.

    Outcome #3:

-Pacman wins convincingly in a decision or KO/TKO/RTD or some other form of ass-whoopage.

Personally, I think this may be the most beneficial scenario. Something tells me that if Floyd were to LOSE he would be more likely to want to stick around and fight longer to prove he is the best (and make a boatload of money). Pac could go on and fight Mosley if Mosley wins and I could see Mayweather wanting to go after Cotto in that situation and the winners end up faicng each other and the losers could even face each other. Pac-Mosley and Floyd-Cotto would both be big money fights and whoever ended up winning those we'd would wind up with either Pac-Floyd II, Pac-Cotto II, Mosley-Cotto II, or Mosley-Mayweather...or some other combination if those fights ended up being very close. And the losers fighting each other is no bad thing either.

Outcome #4: Pacman wins a very close fight via decision or late stoppage.

In this case, a Pacman-Mayweather rematch would probably be more likely than if Mayweather were to win a close fight. It would also free up the Mosley-Berto winner to do whatever in the meantime, which once again would most likely end up being Cotto in some form or another. Don't know though if Pac or May would continue fighting after that if they were to get involved in multiple matches w/ eahc other back to back. I would expect if the same guy won both fights, they'd just retire afterwards...and if they split the first two, then the obvious 3rd match to complete the trilogy, which would be HUGE but then both would probably retire after it was over.

Outcome #5: Some type of ****** controversy not involving scorecards, ie headbutt or a bad stoppage.

Actually, this would be the least preferable scenario, IMO, b/c it would add fire to the "cant trust boxing to deliver" argument.

    Outcome #6: Draw.

I'm not even gonna go into this one. People would demand a rematch and one would hope we'd get one.

Outcome #7: I decide to get up out of my seat and drop the big leg on both of them and then pin them both at the same time, brothers.

Personally, I'd like to see Pac win if it meant that Mayweather didnt want to go out with a loss and he'd stick around. IF (and that is a big IF) Money were to stick around a while longer we'd have 4 top WW in Pacman, Mosley, Mayweather, and Cotto that all possess very large fanbases and it would be great if they all eventually fought one another. No combination of Pac, Mosley, or Mayweather have fought each other before...and Cotto is currently 1-1 against 2 of the 3, and would surely want a crack at Mayweather, another crack at Pacman, and Mosley-Cotto II would be money as well. These guys have a chance to be the 21st century version of Hagler, Duran, Leonard, and Hearns if they all stick a little while longer and fight each other, as another poster mentioned here, I believe.

So you are saying it would be "best" for boxing if it turns out Mayweather is the best fighter, he wins and then retires and boxing fades back into the mainstream obscurity it has enjoyed for years? How can you even make that argument?

I think most people just want a good fight.

I don't think the casual fans watching were particularly impressed with the biggest fight DLH-Mayweather.

No matter who wins it just needs drama and excitement.

I believe Manny will retire if he beats Mayweather as Roach doesn't think there's anything left to prove. Floyd says he's back to cement his legacy and if he's being honest then he'll take on Mosley if he wins his match against Berto.

No it would not be better for boxing.
Generally people think Mayweather still has alot to prove, win or lose against Manny; and if Manny wins, he'll be regarded as the GOAT, by the media and casual boxing fans. And no fighter in our era is a GOAT.
