Denis Lebedev stops Ali Ismailov in a war

Today in Russia, Denis Lebedez stopped Ali Ismailov at the end of round six.

With his constant pressure, Lebedev won the first two rounds over the technically-skilled Ismailov, but Ali came back in the 3rd and outboxed Denis, opening a serious cut on his forehead. However, Lebedev "turned it up" in the 4th and 5th, beating Ismailov from pillar to post, and as the 5th round ended, Ali also had a nasty cut. The beating continued through the sixth round, and Ismailov's corner then decided to stop the fight.

Ali Ismailov is a very good fighter - I thought he won his fight with Victor Emilio Ramirez in Argentina, but he didn't receive a fair decision from the judges. So this is a good win for Denis Lebedev, who grew up in severe poverty in Russia.

I'd like to see Lebedev have a world title shot now, perhaps against Marco Huck or Guillermo Jones.

Interesting how men who grow up in poverty often become the best boxers, whether they are Black, White or any other race: Patterson, Dempsey, Pacquiao, etc.

The average fighter is definitely underpaid. Many have quit boxing because they couldn't raise a family on their income.

If I can find a video of the fight on the Russian websites, I'll post it in the videos section.
