All the stats in the world won't mean a damn thing when these two step into the ring.

I picked Pacquiao to beat Cotto. I picked Mayweather to beat Marquez. Now I pick Mayweather to dominate Pacquiao in Trinidad-Wright type fashion.

True. But on the other hand, you could argue that Manny will be the sharper fighter on fight night. On March 13th, Manny will be fighting in his 4th superfight in 15 months, while Floyd will be entering the ring for only the 2nd time in 27 months.

[QUOTE=bojangles1987;6999280]That's why Floyd Mayweather is going to have to be the Floyd Mayweather that we last saw fight Gatti, still hungry to prove himself, because the only fights Manny Pacquiao has fought in the last 4 years or so are prove yourself against great fighters fights. The difference in competition is incredible.

What a contradiction. Pacquaio fought Delahoya and Hatton over a year after Mayweather beat them. An unbeaten Hatton and an older Delahoya at that. And last time I checked Diaz was not a great fighter. Neither was a past prime Cotto at a catch weight.

biasism at its best. Now can you pick out floyds resume with the likes of baldomir, shamba etc...

Notice how Cotto isnt on Floyds resume, but some how its a knock on Manny.

To be fair, that Tito Trinidad is no where near the Tito that fought Oscar and Vargas. We don't even know if Pacquiao has peaked yet in his prime. With Floyd? We could possibly have seen the best Floyd we'll ever see, but that's not saying he's on a decline, he's just a safety first fighter. Against Pacquiao, I think his hands gotta get dirty and he's going to have to enforce some type of pace to throw Pacquiao off, but the dude is just a whirlwind. Floyd's not pot shotting his way to a win against Pacquiao, he'll be in a genuine fight....hence why I've stated I'd like to see the Floyd of old come out...but can THAT Floyd even beat Pacquiao? We'll find out soon enough.

You might be right, but you have to remember something, Pacquiao throws a lot of punches. Those kind of fighters normally are mere fodder for master counter punchers like Floyd.

The thing thats so difficult about Floyd is that he's a master counter puncher and a master defensive fighter.

The only other fighter that can come close to Floyd in terms of fighting skills is Bernard Hopkins.

I don't think Manny is going to be able to deal with Floyd's style at all.

Fighting WIDE OPEN guys like DLH, HATTON and COTTO really has Pac, Freddie and Manny's fans feeling really good.

Mayweather is going to be a whole nother world. LOL!

It's definitely a tough fight for Pacquiao, there's no denying that. But in the same way you can look at the guys Pacquiao fought and how they played into his style is the same way I could look at Floyd. Pacquiao's a volume puncher, but he's a smart fighter on top of that. He sets traps, is out of the way before you can set your offense up. Plus, now that we've seen him take power shots from someone who hits like Cotto, it adds another dimension to how Floyd can prepare for someone who chances are he'll be punching...but will still coming forward throwing punches as well. Completely different set of circumstances for both guys, but though I've followed Floyd for years, this is definitely a style match up he's never faced which adds that much more intrigue.
