Good day fight fans. I caught up with former undisputed welterweight champion "Super" Zab Judah. Zab is coming off an impressive 2nd round TKO victory last November 7 against Ubaldo Hernandez over at the Palms Resort Casino in Las Vegas.
Zab spoke at length regarding his new focus for the sport of boxing emphasizing that he is hungry again and looking to slay the giants in his division. He also chimed in his thoughts on upcoming fights such as Shane Mosley vs. Andre Berto in January and the proposed Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr. superfight.
Judah who was recently named by Amir Khan as one of the opponents he would like to fight next also responded to the Brits challenge. You do not want to miss what he Zab said. Also, Zab acknowledging that I am Filipino also shared his appreciation towards all the Filipino boxing fans and his fans as well.
Check out some of the quotes from this interview below and listen in on my conversation with Zab:
On Amir Khan wanting to fight him:
Zab - "First of all, who is this little kid? He's like a little kid to me. I consider myself one of the top, elite boxers in the game today, you know what I mean? And this young kid just pops out of nowhere. Where was he at when I was undisputed world champion? Where was he at when I won my first IBF world championship? He was nowhere in sight. He wasn't even thought of. He was coming from the bottom. Now he comes in the scene and get a couple wins and wants to go right away for the big dogs, but you gotta slow down before you get hurt."
D Source - But would you want to take that fight? I think that would be a great match-up.
Zab - "Understand, match-up-wise, it's great. But what comes from that for me? Me beating Amir Khan is what- everybody expected that and predicted that. Me losing to Amir Khan is something huge for him. Me beating him means nothing for me. He puts me nowhere, it does nothing for me.
D Source - Who would you like to fight then?
Zab - "In my radar right now is Juan Urango. I'm looking for Juan Urango the IBF junior welterweight champion of the world- I'm looking for him. Ricky Hatton said that he wants to come out of retirement. He wants a big fight. I'm looking for Ricky Hatton. Those two guys mainly right now."
On Mosley vs. Berto:
Zab - "It's gonna be a good fight. I just think Mosley is too strong for him. I'm going to go with Mosley on that one- by knock-out."
