I reckon he is, someone with limited skills, and little arms has no business being a sucessful boxer.

Ricky did alright, but still gets treated like a bum round here

Its just that most people in America weren't familiar with him until he destroyed Castillo. It was like when Calzaghe owned Lacey in what was supposed to be a routine "American prospect exposes overrated european boxer with inflated record".

So really, they only thing people really think about when they think Hatton is: beating Castillo (who hasnt gone anywhere and has little name value) and getting his ass kicked by Mayweather and Pac.

Also: Calzaghe gets way less respect. He chased fights with prime Hopkins/Roy, and they wouldnt give him the time of day. Then he beat Lacy, blew up as a star, got the fights he wanted, won them, aaaaannnddddd......... people call him a fraud.

EDIT: yeah, yeah I forgot about Hatton beating Kostya

See Hatton's a really strange case. There's so much about him that reasonably makes NSB dislike him. Yes, he's got his little t-rex arms, and yes, every time he's been tested in a big way after Tszyu he's come up short (excluding his exceptional performace against Paulie). I think a lot of the reasons he's disliked over in NSB is the manner in which he fights tactically. He's not very crowd pleasing, that's for sure, and at the end of the day, Ricky's style is based upon him being able to take punishment until he's able to accomplish his ground and pound objective. Ricky is no longer able to take that kind of punishment, and it breaks my heart to say it, but it's his own fault for not living and behaving like an athlete outside of the ring. He's been my favourite fighter since 2005 and will be my top guy until he retires, but he's a fighter with a lot of HUGE faults..... and most of those are of his own making, and that's why I think a lot of people don't like him around here.

Hatton's fight that put him on the map was Kostya...boxing fans know this..and its not like Castillo is American so why is it you think American fans started to know about him from that. Hatton also fought on network tv on channel Versus against Juan Lazcano and had a piss poor performance.

Hatton gets respect. Alot of people like to downplay Manny, but since Manny tore him one, he becomes some guy who just always goes forward.

How could I forgot about the Kostya win? How American of me. That was his best IMO. I brought up Castillo because of his strong performance against Floyd, and how Ricky took him apart early. You know, the old "If he can kick Boxer 1's ass better than Boxer 2 did, I bet he can kick Boxer 2's ass as well!". Thats why the Hatton/Mayweather fight made so much sense IMO.

Yeah but he fought Castillo 5 years later!!!!!!!!! And Castillo was far from his finest days...he wasn't even able to make weight for fights. Mayweather and Hatton fought because the were both p4p ranked in the top 5

Yep and i don't see how.

Hatton has lost twice, to the two best fighters in the world. No shame in that. At least he had the damn balls to fight them.

Plus he is skilled, not limited skilled as you say. His style is very difficult for opponents, not so much now unless you're a big puncher and then you got a massive chance against Ricky.
