Look at the gap between Kobe's championship. Woods shouldn't even be considered an athlete. Floyd stayed at the top longer than Kobe

Pacquiao hasnt really been a superstar until the past 3 or 4 years. Thats like saying Lebron is the best basketball player of the decade over kobe.

Maybe not money wise, but he's done more and beaten better competition in more impressive fashion.

          this doesn't makes sense..

          first of all, KOBE>JAMES

second, manny has been fighting and beating top competition before he was fighting the hattons and the oscars of the world. saying he just became "good" the past few years is not accurate.

Roger Federer honestly I dont know anything about tennis but i didnt think he was really relevant in the first half of the decade.
Manning is a legit choice to cause he does have 1 super bowl and 3 mvps.

And Mayweather never fought the best welterweights ill admit but he fought all the good fighters from super featherweight up.
He did fight those guys at the weight, but he kinda tailed off when he went up. I'm not hating not Mayweather since I'm a fan of his inside the ring, but great odds are stacked against him. It's true that you don't need to be a great athlete to play golf or even baseball, but Woods' dominance makes the majority believe he should be "Athlete" of the decade. Federer has won like 13 Championships in tennis while being rated number 1 player for 5 straight years. This list doesn't even include Michael Phelps who has 14 gold medals while breaking dozens of world records in swimming.

For fighter of the decade, for me it's a toss between Mayweather or Pacquiao. I wouldn't ***** either way if one of them wins it and the other doesn't.

Kobe has been the best player no question in the NBA since about 2003, 2004 at the latest, and only because of Shaq probably wasn't considered the best earlier. Floyd wasn't p4p #1 until 2005 when Bernard Hopkins, who took over after Roy's long reign ended, lost to Jermain Taylor. Kobe has dominated his sport for far longer than Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Floyd already blew his chance to be considered the decade's best. He retired for so long while his competition was at its very peak. I dunno what you call that; "ducking", but that's very strange considering it could cement his legacy as the sport's best alongside the ATG's. SRR, Louis, Ali, etc didnt retire when the competition got very stiff. Even when they were on their downslide, they still took on the very vest.

Secondly, Floyd has another chance of edging PAC as the decade's best. He could have waited for the result of PAC-Hatton fight earlier this year. The P4P King against the former. The fight we are waiting for in March should have had happened right now and we dont even have to argue with this anymore. Actually, this topic really needs no argument if the *****s will open their eyes to this accept this reality...

i didnt mean he became good the past couple of years i meant he became dominant in the way floyd has been in the past couple of years.

again though im not life or death with this, i dont even really like floyd its more that when the AP voted athlete of the decade it seems messed up that tiger woods was most likely a unanimous choice but most likely no boxer was even considered.

Pacquiao, Woods, Armstrong, Federer deserve to be placed ahead of Mayweather as athlete of the decade. Pac has to be boxer of the decade, he has continually found new ways to challenge himself against the best. When was the last time the boxing public thought there was a considerable chance Mayweather would lose by his opponent? Castillo? Corrales?

I know if he fought Cotto, Margarito, Shane, Williams there would be a hell of a lot more people saying they have a decent chance to win. A much larger chance than Hatton, Gatti, Baldomir and Judah.
