No he was offered £5m and he didnt think it was worth his while.HBO wanted to preserve Klitschko because he was a rising star and they would end up making more money from him in the long run.

That was the original agreement but HBO backtracked on that offer and it came down to £5m.It was a polite way of saying we dont want to watch the fight and so Lewis who was used to getting big bucks quit instead.

Lewis earned around $7m for his weekend's work. He will demand at least three times as much for a re-match that will carry something of the aura of one of the creations of ringside observer Sylvester Stallone.

Lewis at 37, nearly 38 eats Vitali at 38.

People say Vitali can take on all the greats, which is true, but some overrate him by saying he beats most ATG's. He's good, and I'm a fan but I can see others eating him up. He would never deal with Ali at all.

The old heavyweights werent flat footed the way these guys are now.The heavyweights were agile, fast, powerful and very techinical fighters.Ali would move and hit people from all angles,no one could stand the way Klitschko stands now and expect to win.Ali would hit him from all sorts of angles,it would be so fast he wouldnt know what hit him.I cant see any heavyweight who's fast and mobile at the moment David Haye included. All these heavyweights are chumps compared to the old greats, non of them would go 5 rounds against the older heavyweights.

I agree that it's easier to beat up bums or not so great fighters and look great, but to face a line of greats, that's why we can never call Calzaghe an ATG and I'm a fan of him too.

Klit is like Kessler, great VS flat footed guys, but VS real class, he'll look bad or lose.

20m was what Lewis was getting,Manny Steward even said the rematch would be one of the biggest earners in heavyweight history.

The more appealing match is Lewis-Klitschko II, and Steward believes it could beat the recordbusting fight between Lewis and Mike Tyson last June.

That was the highest-grossing television pay-per-view event in America, bringing in £65million in subscription fees. It also generated the highest gate receipts for a boxing promotion of £11m.

Steward said: "If Lennox and Klitschko fight a rematch, the public interest is going to go through the roof. It will exceed what the Tyson fight made.

"It would be a much bigger event. You never knew what was going to happen with the Tyson fight, but everybody who sees the highlights of what happened here will know the rematch between Lennox and Klitschko is going to be crazy.
