That is going to be 1 helluva a fight. Whoever wins should get major props. I wouldn't sleep on Berto.

Yeah but does it really work like that anymore. If Berto wins then I could see everyone putting it on Shane's age and say that he got old overnight when truthfully they both may be great but Berto may just be better right now

SSM to me have better chances to win this one, but if this Berto kid win we all know that Mosley got the rematch, so he should just look for the next big fight if he beats SSM, and forget about Mosley.

Mosley is on a mission in 2010. He knows that if he wins in Jan, he will poss get the fight with either PAC or 146 pounder down the line. Too much experience for the green berto. even collazo was tagging berto and was rocking him, them overhand rites will poss do a "Vargas reenactment".Naz will easily gameplan for berto.

Berto is a great fighter and is curremtly doing his best on training so he will be prepared for the upcoming fight with Mosley. On the other hand, Mosley is good too. Anything can happen with their upcoming fight.

The only way i see berto standing a chance against Mosley is if Shane comes into the fight looking like a 38 year old, witch IMO will not happen.SSM has at least 3 more good fights left in him.

Liek posted by Al Capone earlier in this thread Shane knows what is at stake here. he campaigned for a fight with either mayweather or Pacquiao all year in 2009 and ended up the lonely girl standing in the corner at the dance. He knows if he wants to hav any chance of getting the BIG fight this year he needs to look good against Berto and unify the belts. It makes for a sexy story. The fight between Pacquiao and Mayweather may be at WW and may be for the P4P title and the WBO belt but many consider Shane to be the best WW in the world. So to me the fight between the winner of the Pacquiao vs mayweather fight and the winner of the SHane Mosley Berto fight makes perfect sense $$$$....Especially if it is Mosley....Berto to me doesn't have what it takes to defeat Mosley. many will point out his performance against mayorga (whom he knocked out) and say he had a bad night. I point to his new corner man ****m Richardson and say training technicis are going to be better and he will have a better game plan and good old Jack Mosley will be in the front row rather then in the corner....Lefty

Mosley is too close to a mega fight to blow it now. Berto has never been in the ring with a Mosley caliber fighter, he will not win this when Mosley just has to get past this fight to land the biggest fight of his career against either Pac or Mayweather.

But late January in Las Vegas represents a little something different for Andre Berto.

                    It’s college graduation day.

“I’ve had a lot of fight against guys where I was able to work on things. To see what was successful and what wasn’t,” said the 26-year-old Floridian. “But now it’s step-up time. It’s like I’m in with the teacher and I’m the student. And I get the chance to show everyone what I’ve learned.

“I’m in with a guy who I’ve looked up to since I first started watching boxing and who was a world champion I emulated when I was an amateur. To think I’ll be in there fighting him is unreal. I can honestly say I never thought I’d be in this position.”

Grading Berto’s final exam will be 38-year-old Shane Mosley – the already three-division champ who reemerged with a ninth-round TKO of Antonio Margarito last January to earn both a dubious WBA “super” title belt and a groundswell of support as the best fighter at 147 pounds. It will be very competive... Mosley is 38... even though he looked great against Margarito - Berto has an different skill-set. Berto seems to have the right mentality... as the going got tough with Collazo he gutted it out... if the round went a little longer or even a round more... he would have knocked him out...

The reason why still go with Mosley is that Berto doesn't know **** about defense as it seems... Mosley ain't a great defender himself but knows how to get around that... Mosley also has a good record against guys that he overmatches physically... and Berto even though he looks big isn't a very strong WW physical... they even though about moving him to 140 at a time...

Like stated Mosley will win a decision about 7-5, or 8-4 rounds... but it could be that the judges call it a draw or even highly disputed decision for Berto... Mosley is not exactly a judges favorite...

For Mosley to get in the hunt I think he would have to knock Berto out... I think a decision won't help him... Pacquiao after Mayweather will probably try to go for a 54 title to break the division record and retire afterwards (I don't know how serious he is about retirement though)... and Mayweather will probably retire after Pacquiao...

Mosley could be up against Paul Williams or probably Cotto (he wants to call quits too I heard... but my guess is that he wants to go out against a good opponent that he still has a chance of winning against)

truth is, shane almost lost to ricardo mayorga, before he got the KO in the 12th round...back then ppl wanted him to retire. shane looks good against the 1 dimensional margarito, who also got exposed for cheating about a half an hour before the fight, and now he can all of a sudden beat pacman and/or mayweather....please.

in january, berto will make this guy look every bit his age....i just wish they were doing the "olympic style" drug testing for this fight also.
